Strawberry BigMac Posted August 15, 2007 Author Posted August 15, 2007 i think selita is super gorgeous too and i would use her but its always seems like they just use ethnic girls when they feel like it to show a good example as aposed to actually thinking they are beautiful. its super obvious in advertisments and here.but i donno the answer either. Jennka Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I think people will soon get bored and tired of seeing white girls everywhere....and if someone wants something special, they have to use other ethnic you know... I think we need some BIG personality out there...someone like Naomi again!! Quote
mbinebri Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Dont you think its kind of wierd that being an ethnic minority our selves we are the ones most often represented as beautiful? It's not weird at all: most of the world fashion capitals -- New York, Paris, Milan, etc. -- are located in countries where whites are not the ethnic minority. So it makes sense that whites are more represented, although I do agree that other ethnicities in fashion are under-represented. Quote
Strawberry BigMac Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 yah but their is still plenty of girls....and guys especially that dont get represented. Quote
Strawberry BigMac Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 you should get aquainted ...if you think the brazilian girls are hot....whoof. no one posts in the male models thread. Quote
Jennka Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I know, male models are not as popular as female Quote

SympathysSilhouette Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Well black people or asains aren't generally tall and skinny like the models featured. Can't say it bothers me. Say what??? Quote
Strawberry BigMac Posted August 17, 2007 Author Posted August 17, 2007 yah its super obvious around here. alek has like 4 pages and she has done about twice as much work as say izabel goulart or whatever. Quote

jatros123 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Its simple..its not racism..but its a general concept..that to display your clothes you need a tall frame..most of the asian and indian models are short. They cant really make it to the league..if you bring down your criteria of tallness then may be asians and indians would get a chance.. Quote
Joe > Average Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Its simple..its not racism..but its a general concept..that to display your clothes you need a tall frame..most of the asian and indian models are short. They cant really make it to the league..if you bring down your criteria of tallness then may be asians and indians would get a chance.. First of all, welcome "I'm Joe." The statement was made regarding Asians and blacks, not Asians and Indians. I remember because my original response is gone. However, black girls aren't any shorter than white girls. IMO, the issue isn't as much what the powers that be can find or how easily they can find it, but what they want. For example, if the issue was the convenient availability of features, the recent acceptance of full lips in the fashion industry would have caused agencies to hire more black girls. On the contrary, they stay with the same tolkein approach that was in place before and the trend has caused white girls with naturally full lips or injections to become more popular instead. If white girls were shorter than Asians, then white owned agencies would have either A) deamed shortness as being more valuable or B) just put more effort into finding tall white girls. Quote
Cartman Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 As long as the model's beautiful, I like her. I don't care what her skin color is. Any woman can be beautiful. If you took Cindy Crawford and made her darker, would her facial features be any worse? Racism = ignorance. Quote

TooBoku Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 One word for everyone..MONEYThink about it a little.Race matters only to the point as to where a particular model's work will be seen. Heck. Even weight. You go to a 14+ store and what do you see on the walls? Not Karolina Kurkova. You see some really hot full figured women. You go to a Theme Maternity... no sign of Patricia Barros on the walls at all (at least not until I'm done with her ). You see real fully pregnant women. You walk down the streets of Manila. It's not Andrew Cooper you see all over the billboards. They're covered by a half naked Borgy Manotoc.Find out wh the typical person is that could buy a dress they see on a runway in Milan. There you'll have your answer to why you see so much of "the same thing". Quote
azure Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 well its 2009 now and im glad to say there are more races on our runways black girls like jourdan, sessilee, chanel and arlenis ... asian girls liu wen, han hye-jin, daul kim, tao okamoto... and lakshmi from india Quote
