fourboltmain Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=2&...ake_celebritiesPetra Nemcova — who appeared on the cover of 2003 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue — was carried away with her boyfriend, the fashion photographer Simon Atlee, after a huge wave plowed into southern Thailand on Sunday. Nemcova's New York spokesman, Rob Shuter, said the model and her boyfriend had been vacationing in the resort of Phuket when waves overwhelmed their beach hut. Nemcova, 25, clung to a tree for eight hours as the water swirled around her. She was recovering in a Thai hospital from broken bones, possibly including a broken pelvis, and unspecified internal injuries. Atlee, 33, was swallowed by the raging waters and was still missing Tuesday. "I've spoken to Petra several times and she's in pretty bad shape," Shuter said. "She's on pain medication. She probably doesn't realize yet the magnitude of the disaster." Quote
Demure Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Poor Petra. I hope she will be okay. I'll be praying for her and everyone involved in the tragedy. Quote
SOCOM Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 Its CRAZY how this could happen. Why did petra have to be on vacation there... She shouldve gone to San Diego... Its nicer and safer over here. Its horrible that so many people have perished in this tragedy. Its one for the record books... Quote
Keira Knightley Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I'm just about speechless here. I heard about this earlier but couldn't believe it. I feel so bad for her... but thank god she's at least alive. If she had enough will-power to hang on to that tree so for then she'll be okay in the end, I hope. Quote

Its horrible that so many people have perished in this tragedy. Its one for the record books... This tradegy kinda reminds me of the song "Why" by Jadakiss. SOCOM, don't you think you are missing the big picture here?! That "shouldve gone to San Diego" statement, while true, seems to be very insensitive. Also, you might wanna take into account that many popular vacation spots are also prone to other natural disasters, like all the tropical storms which often become hurracanes and such. It sucks, but this is the world we live in. Quote
k_dub Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Petra Nemcova wasn't the only celebrity that had to deal with this terrible tragedy.http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&e=2&...ake_celebrities Quote
