Leonardo DiCaprio in ‘Squid Game’ Season 3?

Speculation arose after an exclusive report from Korean news outlet OSEN, which dropped today. “Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio will be appearing in the Netflix mega hit Squid Game 3,” it said. 

Filming has already been completed, and OSEN claimed that DiCaprio was said to make a surprise appearance in Season 3, which will be released this summer. No details on the role, but it was rumored to be a small part.

Regardless, the news soon went viral. However, Netflix quickly denied the speculation, with a rep telling Soompi “The rumors are completely false. Reports of Leonardo DiCaprio’s involvement in Squid Game Season 3 are entirely unfounded.”

In 2022, ‘Squid Game’ writer-director Hwang Dong-hyuk mentioned that DiCaprio was a “big fan” of the show, and could be invited to join the cast for season 3. Whether that’s happened remains to be seen, but come to think of it, maybe DiCaprio can join David Fincher’s upcoming U.S. version of the series?

More Details on Damien Chazelle/Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Evel Knievel on Tour’

Last month, a report indicated that Damien Chazelle’s next film would tackle stunt devil Evil Knievel, and star Leonardo DiCaprio. It looks like this project is legit. Some more details have now emerged (via Production Weekly).

Firstly, the film is called “Evel Knievel on Tour,” and is written by William Monahan (“The Departed”) and Terrence Winter (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “The Sopranos”). This will also not be a straight up rise and fall biopic. Instead, the story is set in a single year, 1974, and tackles Knievel’s ambitious planning to jump across Idaho’s Snake River on his motorcycle.

Knievel was an American stunt performer, and entertainer, known for his motorcycle jumps (and bad temper). During his stunt career, Knievel suffered more than 433 bone fractures, earning an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records as the survivor of "most bones broken in a lifetime.”

Knievel ruined his career when he attacked a man with a baseball bat due an unflattering book written about him. The victim was knocked unconscious and needed major surgery to repair his arm. Knievel served 6 months in jail, but lost all his endorsements and contracts.

Chazelle’s last film, “Babylon,” tanked at the box-office, making $63 million against a production budget of a little under $100 million. “Babylon” ultimately lost Paramount an estimated $87 million. Oddly enough, it was a huge hit in France, with both critics and audiences.

Back in April, Chazelle set up his supposedly next film with Paramount, this one rumored to take place in a prison. It was described as a “mid-budget” drama with action elements. He was supposed to shoot it this fall, but it never happened — did he suddenly get cold feet?

A few months later, Chazelle told Vanity Fair that he was now working on two projects, and didn’t know which one was going to get made first. ‘Evel Knievel’ is still in development, but things are revving up fast enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if it is indeed his next film.

Paul Thomas Anderson on Rumors Circling His Next Film: “I Need to Start Figuring Out What the F*ck To Say"

Outside the MCU/DCU bubble, has there been a more rumored film than Paul Thomas Anderson’s next one? From the title to the plot to the release date to the budget, we’re all in the dark, and relying on second-hand information to figure it all out.

Anderson has finally, sort of, come out of the shadows, but he’s still being all cryptic on us. The L.A. Times decided to email the filmmaker and ask him firsthand about his new film, but his answer was of no help. He’s keeping his cards close to his chest and instead offering an amusing response:

I need to start figuring out what the f— to say.

Yes, you should. One thing’s for certain, we know who stars in the film, and that’s Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s joined by an ensemble that includes Regina Hall, Chase Infiniti, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Wood Harris, Teyana Taylor, and Alana Haim.

The film might be called “The Battle of Baktan Cross,” or maybe it’s “One Battle After Another,” we don’t really know. It could also be a loose adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s “Vineland” which Anderson has namechecked over the years as a novel he’s attempted to transcribe to the screen.

The budget was originally announced as $110M, but the figure keeps going up and it’s now a real possibility that it could be anywhere between $140M to $175M. The release date is also up in flux; Based on sources, it’s certainly not keeping its August 8, 2025 date, but will it come out earlier or later in the year. Hell, Puck’s Matt Belloni recently claimed it was moved to 2026.

You see what I’m saying? There have been no answers to our questions. It’s all speculation. Maybe it is indeed time for Anderson to start figuring out “what the f*ck to say.”

I mean the dude looks nothing like Leo (probably not the point lol) but at least he's greyish blonde with some interesting clothes 😄 Also love the 70s vibes in movies. Also the man was a dickhead? Yay another unlikable white male character. But I guess most men can't help otherwise (same old story).
