Sunshiine Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 photographed by Tom Newton Quote “Since having kids, my relationship to health and beauty has become much more thoughtful. I used to slather anything on my skin and not care what it was made out of. I've always loved the decadence of beauty products, but at the point when I first started having children—when I was suddenly responsible for another living being—I became conscious of what I was putting on and in my body. I wish we would be more conscious when it's just for ourselves. My skincare routine is like a ritual—one that gives me as much emotional comfort as physical. In the morning, I wash my face with the True Botanicals Clear Face Wash to keep acne at bay. Then I follow with the True Botanicals Renew Face Oil. I apply my face oil in a way that actually feels more like a face massage than anything else. The woodsy, natural fragrance, hitting key pressure points… really does make a difference in how I feel internally. At night, I use the same face wash, then the oil, then the True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster. I use their Vitamin C Booster a few times a week as well. If I'm leaving a workout, and am too lazy to shower, I use Ursa Major Essential Face Wipes to clean my skin as I hop on the subway. They clean and moisturize, which is very helpful. Overall, my beauty approach is low key, but thoughtful. I don't obsess over beauty but I try to be kind to my skin. I plan on using it for another 60 years or so. I do enjoy how a bit of makeup can transform my mood. Whether I'm going to a meeting or a bar, I feel like a superhero changing in a phone booth. I don’t strive for perfection, but I have gotten to know my face well enough that I don't need to spend lots of time on my makeup routine. I just have fun with it. It's amazing what a little eyeliner and some good lipstick can do. For everyday makeup, RMS Beauty Mascara is my go to, plus some Glossier Stretch Concealer, which I love. I’ll highlight with RMS Living Luminizer and add Glossier Cloudpaint to blush. If I need a pop of color, I’ll use a little Rodin lipstick. One small tip—I keep an extra toothbrush to exfoliate and plump my lips first. If I want to amp my look up for a night out, I’ll add some liquid eyeliner. I'm a big eyebrow perfectionist, and I'm finally growing my eyebrows back after 15 years of baldness. I've been using Revitabrow and it's fucking working. I just want to share that small victory. I use a Marc Jacobs Eyebrow Pencil, and follow with Glossier Boy Brow on top. My hair has been four different colors and cuts this year because of work stuff. I went from long, breastfeeding hair to a short, platinum shaggy bob, to an inky black blunt bob, to whatever it is now—which may be best described as ‘surrendered.’ I use True Botanicals Shampoo and Conditioner, and when I'm not working I do very little to it. I am pretty careful about my deodorant, because I'm not risking it. I use Agent Nateur. I also love a good mani-pedi as much as the next gal—unless the next gal is Kim Kardashian, because in my imagination she sleeps with her fingers in individual silk pillowcases. I also love baths. I don't care how cliché it is. I am a woman who loves a hot, Epsom salt-filled bath. Pursoma Resurrect me right up.” source: intothegloss Quote
