Cult Icon Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 3 delicious deserts that I had for the first time...:-D Tokachi Ohagi This is sweet glutinous rice wrapped around with red bean paste. It's a lot tastier than it looks! The Rice is manipulated into a substance that's almost like gelatin. Sakura Mochi wrapped with cherry blossom leaves This is coarser sweet rice wrapped around red bean paste. The sweet rice itself has a special tea flavor Mochi wrapped in tea leaves I've had this before..many times, in fact. It's my favorite Japanese desert. But this was simply the best 'mochi' I ever had. The tea leaves sear flavor onto the surface, and the constitution of the mochi sweet rice was also the finest I've ever had. Very chewy and flavorful. It's amazing that this used to be 'glutinous rice'. Quote
Lyon Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Never had Tokachi Ohagi before but it looooks YUM Quote
Joe > Average Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Are those snails or oysters? I didn't know people ate snails in any case, but I bet they're either said to have protein or are an afrodesiac. At least that's what people seem to say about everything like that . Quote
ILUVAdrianaLima Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Snails delicious despite there visual appeal to many. When prepped right they sure do go great with beer as posted above. And it seems like any exotic food is labled as an afrodesiac these days...or is that just me Quote
Cult Icon Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Never had Tokachi Ohagi before but it looooks YUM Ahh Mochi.... The mochi was the best, followed by the Tokachi Ohagi and the Sakura Mochi. The Sakura 'mochi' was more like a special type of rice-cake than the others, though :-D Quote
ILUVAdrianaLima Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 ^What do u prefer, savory or sweet mochi? Quote

ILUVAdrianaLima Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 LoL, its what I subconsciously thought. Oh they would love more once they try it. But for a good few, we taste with our eyes first and snails don't exactly fit the bill for most. Quote
