Chocolate Posted January 21, 2009 Author Posted January 21, 2009 Category 41-45, round 3: Calista Flockhart vs. Courtney Cox Calista by me In spring 1989, Flockhart made her first television appearance in a minor role in an episode of Guiding Light. She made her professional debut on the New York stage, appearing in Beside Herself at the Circle Repertory Theatre. Two years later, Flockhart appeared in the television movie Darrow. Though she later appeared in films Naked in New York (1993) and Getting In (1994), her first substantial speaking part in a film was in Quiz Show. Flockhart debuted on Broadway in 1994, in The Glass Menagerie. Flockhart received a Clarence Derwent Award for her performance. In 1995, she appeared in the movie Drunks. Later that year, Flockhart starred in Jane Doe. In 1996, Flockhart appeared in The Birdcage. Throughout that year, she continued to work on Broadway, playing the role of Natasha in Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters. In 1997 Flockhart was requested to audition for the starring role in David E. Kelley's FOX television series, Ally McBeal. Kelley, having heard of Flockhart, wanted her to audition for the contract part. Though Flockhart at first hesitated due to the necessary commitment to the show in a negotiable contract, she was swayed by the script and travelled to Los Angeles to audition for the part, which she won. She earned a Golden Globe Award for the role in 1998. Flockhart played the role of Helena in the 1999 film version of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 2000, she appeared in Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her and Bash: Latter-Day Plays. Flockhart also starred in the off-Broadway production of Ensler's The Vagina Monologues. In 2004, Flockhart appeared in The Last Shot. In the same year, Flockhart travelled to Spain for the filming of Fragile, which premiered in September 2005 at the Venice Film Festival. Flockhart currently stars as communication advisor Kitty Walker in the ABC TV prime time series Brothers & Sisters, which premiered in September 2006 as the lead-out program to Desperate Housewives. Awards: Golden Globe Award, Best Actress - Musical Or Comedy Series, 1998, for Ally McBeal Theatre World Award, 1995, for The Glass Menagerie Screen Actors Guild Awards, Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble - Comedy Series, 1999, for Ally McBeal (wikipedia) Courtney by Julia Her early film roles include Masters of the Universe (1987) and Cocoon: The Return (1988). Cox's early television work include a starring role in the short-lived television series Misfits of Science (1985), and later a recurring role (1987 - 1989) on the television series Family Ties. She had a supporting role in the 1990 fantasy film Mr. Destiny. In 1994, shortly before the debut of Friends, Cox appeared in the film Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and on Seinfeld. Later in 1994, Cox was asked to audition for the part of Rachel Green on a new sitcom called Friends, but she was instead cast as the character Monica Geller. At first the most famous cast member of the new show, Cox joined fellow castmates for what would become her most famous role, lasting for 10 seasons until 2004. During her time on Friends, Cox appeared in the highly successful and high-profile Hollywood films Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), and Scream 3 (2000). Although she starred in several other films during her time on Friends, none achieved the same level of success as the show. Such films include The Runner, 3000 Miles to Graceland and The Shrink Is In. Since Friends, Cox has primarily concentrated on her family but has starred in the independent film November (2005), which had a limited theatrical release, co-starred with Tim Allen in the critically derided Zoom and cameoed in the big budget remake of The Longest Yard. She has recently supplied her voice for the animated film Barnyard. Since 2007, Cox has starred as Lucy Spiller, a tabloid editor, in Dirt, a television drama for the FX Network. According to Cox, the series was canceled after the second season in 2008. 2008 Bedtime Stories 2009 The Big Change tv2007–2008 Dirt (wikipedia) 1. WHICH ONE IS PRETTIER? 2.
