Prettyphile Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Carl’s Jr. Claims Kate Upton Campaign a Success: 120,000 Additional Facebook Likes Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s brands have long had a reputation for outputting some sexy, star-studded commercials to promote new menu offerings. Their latest promotional vehicle, Kate Upton, was no exception, netting both Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s Facebook Fan pages over 120,000 new Likes since the initial ad aired. Carl’s Jr’s Facebook page alone now sees over 1 million Likes. The partnership between Kate and the CKE brands was part strategic, part serendipitous. When she was signed on as the spokeswoman, neither CKE nor Kate herself knew she would be chosen as the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover model. That announcement, which was made less than two weeks after the commercials were shot, undoubtedly hep propel interest in all things related to Kate, including her Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s ads. Hardees.com brand site reported a 104 percent increase in site visits (over the previous week) once their :60 Director’s cut video was posted. Carlsjr.com reported an 83 percent increase in visits in the same scenario. The brother-sister brands have also noted that more than 5,000 tweets have mentioned the product, Kate (@KateUpton), the ad, @CarlsJr and @Hardees. The campaign has also received parody from the likes of Hulk Hogan and Jay Leno. The :60 Director’s cut video has garnered the better part of 4 million views on YouTube. There’s still no word on the sales of the Southwest Patty Melt, but it looks like there’s been some decent brand recognition resulting from the campaign. Quote
Prettyphile Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 ^ Everyone claims their girl is the next great "supermodel", but I've yet to see a woman in such a short time do anything remotely close to what Kate has done so far(except the original supers) Quote
Prettyphile Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Kate Upton victim of frosty reception, catty remarks from fellow Sports Illustrated models, report saysRival models already have the knives out for the Sports Illustrated (SI) Swimsuit cover beauty Kate Upton. There was a frosty atmosphere during a launch event last month in front of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for this year's issue.Sources said when the 18 SI models -- including Izabel Goulart, Irina Shayk, Chrissy Teigen, Anne V., Genevieve Morton and Julie Henderson -- lined up for a photo, Upton, standing on one side, was asked to move to the middle of the group by a producer. At first she was hesitant, but moved after further prompting. But some of the ladies at the shoot were not pleased at making space. An onlooker said one model rolled her eyes while another mumbled under her breath. When Upton asked what she said, the model snapped, "Don't worry about me, honey, cause I'm not worrying about you!"A rep for Upton did not respond to inquiries about the incident. An SI rep said, "If there were words exchanged, it's news to me. Kate was elegant and a complete force of spirit throughout the launch."http://www.foxnews.com/ Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Models acting catty amongst each other, yeah that's news-worthy... Quote
Prettyphile Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 (If the news is true) then it's only worthy if you know who Kate bumped out of the middle, and last time I checked she was friends with one of the girls in the middle, which leaves the other one as the offending naysayer, perhaps she's irked that she's been passed over for the cover a bazillion times? frenchkiki Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 ^ Everyone claims their girl is the next great "supermodel", but I've yet to see a woman in such a short time do anything remotely close to what Kate has done so far(except the original supers) Unfortunately the only things I see her doing is lame commercials The one for DirectTV: Porn star wanna be. By her attitude she could say "Please do me on the beach" that will be the same thing. And I don't think she looks sexy/hot/whatever for the burger: I won't even comment (again) on that one. And the one for the clothing line: One of the most stupid commercial ever, not even Kate's fault Supermodel? She is taking the wrong direction in her career if she wants to be one. Be a good fashion model is not even in her horizon right now... too bad because a year ago she was having evrything to rule the fashion world. Quote

Clauds Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 It is true that the girls weren't happy with Kate getting the cover of SI. I know that least three of the girls were really mad & it kind of makes sense because they've all been working for SI longer than Kate but maybe next year it will be one of them, it's not Kate's fault anyway I don't know if it went as far as "words exchange" though. People loved Cindy because she was gossip fodder, she was on everyone's lips for every reason you could come up with, her commercials, movies, music videos, who she was dating, what she was wearing, what she wasn't wearing . . . oh and for the occasional magazine cover (normally it was the mens magazines that got people interested) . . . Doesn't that sound like Kate? Does to me. The supers were in a time when people really didn't give a shit about fashion till the movie Clueless came about. Everyone was pretty happy wearing flannels, jeans, Doc Martins/Combat Boots, ripped t-shirts and listening to Nirvana . . . The idea of looking at a Versace runway didn't appeal, and if it did most people didn't have access to see the shows lol The PC was very rare then, and people weren't streaming everything. The originals supers did NOT become popular because of "fashion"... they became famous because of everything else they did. WTF is going on? i don't even have time to write and bam! it's posted! someone (pretty?) please delete the double post below? Anyway... I am certainly not the exception but I loved models before the super models trend. I was already a fan of Cindy in 87/88 way before the poor mortals not interested in fashion(magazines) heard her name and knew who she was (same thing for about 80% of the models I used to like) Now if do not agree at all about what you said about Cindy C or what a super model is, I kind of agree with the rest... BUT! ( ) To me Kate is branding herself the wrong way. I am the first one who wants to see her in mens magazines half naked but what I see lately (the commercials in particular) is just all wrong. Now that's my opinion but she could do so much better than what she is doing now. What's next? Beer commercials? Condoms? To brand on her image is a good thing but to brand just to have her name next to any shitty produce is all wrong. Maybe she doesn't give a damn to be associate with cheesy commercials/brand as long as she is keeping working and I say good for her, why not? Or she just follow bad advices from her entourage? Or is it just me who want to see her doing more stuff like in "love" (was it Love?) magazine? She can buzz on her name by doing the commercial stuff (good ones if possible) but seeing her in beautiful (not even fashion) editorials wouldn't hurt? I am sure Kate can be more versatile than what we see now and North America will have even more to talk about... till next girl damnit! half an hour for that shit to be posted!! Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 But does it really matter if some other SI girl was jealous of Kate and said one or two unkind words? Does this stuff not happen at nearly every runway show, photo-op, shoot or whatever where more than two models are together? Why would models be different from any other profession in that regard? Any old office in the world has jealousy, hypocrisy, gossiping, ... So basically models are human. Big surprise there... Quote
phenobarbie Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I think in the case that it's a photo-op and in public that the professionalism of making a catty comment in that situation is room to talk in a gossip ridden society. It's also potentially damaging to future work with the company. Just saying, at some point the high school melodrama needs to go out the window and the professionalism needs to step in. It's one thing to say it behind closed doors, (it's acceptable and even to some extent expected as you say), but to say it in front of press is highly inappropriate. Quote
