DariaDeva Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Event Title: JACQUELYN JABLONSKI Hosts an Event for AUTISM SPEAKS Location: The Gabarron Foundation, NYC Date: Mon, Jun 24 2013 http://www.vogue.com...aks-fundraiser/ http://bfanyc.com/home/event/6544 Jacquelyn Jablonski Plays Host to a Fashionable Fundraider! When we last spoke with Jacquelyn Jablonski, the all-American beauty had just announced plans to go forward and host her own charity event on behalf of the organization Autism Speaks and last night, we had the chance to see all of the model’s hard work come together in one fashionable soiree! In what was officially her first organized Autism Speaks fund-raiser, the all-American beauty took to The Gabarron Foundation House on the city’s East Side, where she was joined by her brother Tommy— who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of two— as well as a number of her family, friends and supporters. The soiree kicked off with a silent auction featuring a number of fashion, beauty and artwork donations provided by the likes of Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, Oscar de la Renta and Tommy Hilfiger among others. As one of the runway’s top models, Jacquelyn had no problem gathering together a stylish mix of designers, model pals and industry A-listers, all of whom appeared more than happy to support the blossoming model-philanthropist. While enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, besties Hanne Gaby Odiele and Kasia Struss spent time chatting with designers Prabal Gurung, Olivier Theyskens, as a host of other top models including, Mirte Maas, Sigrid Agren, Sara Blomqvist, Josephine Skriver, Britt Maren and Sheila Marquez mingled around the auction table. “Jacquelyn is my very good friend,” Kasia told us while checking in on a of her bids— a portrait of an elephant by photographer Patrick Demarchelier. “I’m very proud of her and that she was able to put together something like this— I’m loving it! Having started the event preparations in March, Jacquelyn admitted she was relieved to see it all finally come together last night, counting the long process as more than just a charity event, but a learning experience as well. “I’ve been wanting to do something for a long time now and I’ve been attending events for a while, but I never really knew how to go about organizing something like this,” said Jacquelyn. “I’ve met so many amazing people from the charity, and after having listened to them talk and seeing how devoted they are to the cause, they’ve really given me the push I needed and the confidence to make this happen. They’ve been so great helping me throughout this whole process. It’s all been such a learning experience for me and definitely a lot more work than I thought. But now I actually feel like I want to do bigger and better things in the future. I think this is just the first of many more events to come and hopefully it’s a big success.” And it was. By the end of the evening, Jacquelyn had helped to raise over $32,000 for benefit Autism Speaks and their efforts to fund autism research. “Jacquelyn has been phenomenal,” said Michael Rosanoff, Associate Director of Public Health Research and Scientific Review at Autism Speaks. “She’s really taken the bull by the horns on this one. Since she participated in our World Autism Awareness Day event at the New York Stock Exchange, she has been so committed to the cause. Obviously, she is touched personally by her brother, Tommy, and they’ve just been a phenomenal support for us. We hope to do this again.” As far as future events go, Jacquelyn isn’t sure where she’ll take her efforts next, although she admits she’s considering a few ideas. “I just want to do the biggest and best thing possible, but we’ll have to see what happens. There are some ideas in the works, but we’ll see, maybe around the time of Autism Awareness Month in April of next year I’ll have my next event.” Quote
