US Vogue December 2022

During a tumultuous childhood in Russia, Natalia Vodianova and her youngest sister, Jenna, were separated by adoption. Two decades later, DNA testing brought about a grateful, unexpected reunion.

In a recent interview, Antoine Arnault was asked about Natalia and the situation in Russia. Interview is in French but I put it through an online translator.

"Your wife, Natalia Vodianova, who is from Russia, has been less visible lately. Is she suffering from this conflict?
Of course she is suffering personally: her mother and sister are still in Russia, and she also has family in Ukraine. She is also worried about her foundation. She is caught in so many crossfires that anything she might say could be misinterpreted, so she has chosen to say as little as possible. Early on, in parallel with her modeling career, she created Naked Heart, a foundation that helps children with disabilities in her country. It is currently difficult to keep her commitments to them, while they probably need it more than before. The cash flow is dwindling, and I see her resilience, looking for solutions. It is not easy at the moment to raise funds for a foundation that works mainly in Russia, because no one wants to be involved in any way with what is happening there. It's understandable, but it's still difficult, because it's her life's work and I see her unhappy, wondering how all this could happen and when it will stop."
