Movies will soon be her main focus': Cara Delevingne 'signs up to star in new film about Amanda Knox'

Cara Delevingne is set to star in a new film about Amanda Knox, it has been claimed.

The British model has reportedly signed up for The Face of an Angel, based on the 2009 murder trial of Amanda and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.

The pair were found guilty of killing British student Meredith Kercher, who was stabbed to death in the home she shared with the US student.

It is believed Cara won't play the lead role of Amanda - who was later set free after her conviction was overturned in 2011, but could again be convicted in a new trial which has been adjourned until November 6.

However, Cara is thought to be taking on a major role alongside Daniel Bruhl and Colin Firth, who is also tipped to star.

A source told The Daily Mirror: 'It doesn't look like Cara will be playing 'Foxy Knoxy' but she will have a major role, as the director wants to focus on events surrounding the trial and the people whose lives have been affected by it.'

The 21-year-old Burberry model has previously expressed her interest in acting after signing with Los Angeles based agency William Morris last month.

Cara has starred in Anna Karenina and hosts her own radio station in Grand Theft Auto 5

She already has three roles in the pipeline, including Kids in Love and a film adaption of Martin Amis' novel London Fields, starring Amber Heard and Billy Bob Thornton.

But The Face of an Angel could kick start her Hollywood career.

The source continued: 'Getting Cara is a real coup for the film but is also brilliant for her career. It proves she's an in-demand actress and will help to boost her career in the US.

'She has been thinking about relocating there and, with big film offers coming in, it's looking likely movies will soon be Cara's main focus.'

Directed by Brit film maker Michael Winterbottom who mostly recently directed The Look of Love about porn baron Paul Raymond and starring Anna Friel and Steve Coogan.

The Face of an Angel film is adapted form Barbie Latza Nadeua’s book of the same name about the Amanda Knox trial.

Daniel Bruhl as a filmmaker researching the trial surrounding the death of Meredith Kercher.

Bruhl's character attempts to reconnect with his daughter after noting that Kercher was being overshadowed by suspect Amanda Knox.

Filming for The Face of an Angel starts in Siena and Rome in Italy next month.
