LuckyXR Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Is there any particular reason they don't open full stores? Too much competition or do they not let a franchise deal with the lingerie? Quote
Corner Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Wow. Never thought Sara was a knock out or anything but reading these last posts, I gotta say, I thought she'd at least have a face u can admire when you get to meet her. Obviously all these, models/celebs don't look quite as glammed up in real life as they do in magazines/catalogs, but has anyone here ever seen a model face to face and thought, she truly is a stunning woman? Curious!I've met all the VS angels. In my opinion, the most stunning in person are definitely Adriana (the most) followed closely by Candice, Alessandra, and Miranda. Adriana is otherworldly.I saw Elsa without make up and thought she was pretty plain. She looked very washed out and pale. She definitely comes alive with tanning and proper make up. Same for Behati and Doutzen. Kendall Jenner is also the epitome of plain in person. Hell, she's plain in photographs too.As for non-angels, Cintia Dicker and Edita are fucking beautiful in person. Cintia's eyes are so damn blue and have a stunning contrast to her red hair and tanned freckled skin. Edita just has a face that looks like it was carved by a god and she carries herself in a super effortless way.Regarding Sara, I definitely agree with the comments above. I think part of it is that she's so short. She naturally doesn't have that long, elegant, imposing height and body that models are expected to have. She's just super skinny. Her face is really pretty but not really in-your-face striking like other models. However, her attitude is amazing and she's a super sweet girl.I've seen Marisa and Selita before in LA, and OMG, they were gorgeous. Maybe it's because the new angels have grown yet, but i've seen sara, martha, and romee before and they were average. I've seen Adriana in public 2-3 years ago and I almost died. She didn't even look human. GORGEOUS! I heard many guy friends of mine that they have saw her next to other angels and she always stands out. This just gave me life! #SuperiorAngel. That's 3 years ago tho...age is catching up with Adri too.Naturally aging wil catch up. The aging process isn't at the rate of speed of light though. 2-3 years ago means little to no changes. At least that how it works for every other human Quote
foofur16 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Is there any particular reason they don't open full stores? Too much competition or do they not let a franchise deal with the lingerie?I can't speak for South America, but in Europe, there are myriad of lingerie brands from luxury to high-street. Also, VS being an American company, it would get heavily taxed according to EU guidelines. From what I've heard from friends in London, VS lingerie isn't cheap at all in England. Simply put, they probably make more money from beauty products. Quote
DanniCullen Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 ^Deffo not cheap to most people. Some lace sets were priced at £200+. Standard VS bra is £48 and for Pink £28. (Roughly, as I was in the VS store in Oxford the other day) The UK already have slightly cheaper lingerie brands. Boux Avenue, CK for example. La Senza was a main one but all the stores I know of have shut down. Quote
ThePinkDiet Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I think they made the big deal when they decided to open the huge store in London in New Bond Street because in Europe it's almost impossible to buy VS lingerie so it's more likely for an European to go on holiday to London rather than the States (in the majority of cases) and spend their money there if they haven't had the opportunity to try their stuff before. I'm one of those. I went to London last year and caught by the excitement of that beautiful store, the colors, the pictures on the wall and everyhing... I ended up spending much more money than I should have had. Quote
user062789 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Going to meet one of the angels at a meet and greet event, does anyone have any tips? It's my first time going and I remember reading for the previous events that you have to purchase $75 to get into the VIP line, does the VIP line go first? Also it says one picture, does that mean you can only take one with your phone or how does that work? Any info would be great Quote
jay_hk Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 So you need to spend at least $50 in a BBV product or bath line. When you have the receipt, you can go to the line - you can't go to the line if you don't buy anything. Then regarding the # of Pics I really don't know how it works. They usually have 1 photographer there, and you can buy that pic - and I think that's the one pic they are mentioning. I guess you can take selfies with them, but it really depends. Sometimes they just put 2 chairs: 1 for the Angel and one for you, but like 2/3 ft distance. I guess it will depend on the Angel Quote
gisellebach Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I don't think you can take selfies with them but I'm not sure. Quote
Prettyphile Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 That makes me sad, the bangs work for her better then her normal hair Quote
star2011 Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 I personally don't like it... And it's piec of hair attached... If she made real bangs would probably stop her from doing a lot of jobs... And probably wouldn't even look as good as the fake ones cause she looks like she had tones of hair and they would look too thick. I prefer her hair the way it is normally. But that's just my opinion Quote

Also it says one picture, does that mean you can only take one with your phone or how does that work? Any info would be great I've been to these events. You don't HAVE to spend the $75, but if you do you will basically be guaranteed 100% in. My advice if you want spend the money is to just get a $75 gift card. That way you can later go back and spend it in a reasonable way, or even gift it to a family member in exchange for actual money haha. Make sure to keep the receipt, as that is how they will check it!! If you don't, you just have to get there super early. Depending on the model, an hour and a half before would be safe. They run two different lines and give preference to the VIP one. If you're one of the first 20 or so in the 'regular' line, you're golden. When you get in, expect to be treated like cattle. Everything is super quick and VS security are total assholes. They don't let you even have your phone out and if you dare try to take a picture yourself they will kick you out. The set up is typically the model in a chair and an empty chair next to her. You sit down and a photographer takes your picture and it gets printed out immediately for you to keep. You can talk to the model all you want, but once you start taking longer than 15 seconds the security will usher you off. The goal is to keep the model engaged and talking to you! If she keeps talking they will let you stay longer. If you're silent they will just move you along haha. So the big takeaway is make sure you can hold a conversation. Ask something interesting and plan what you will say! Quote
johnnicecool Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 It was in 2012 and she was 31, so 3 years is not really going to change the way she looks by that much. Just look at all the 30 and 40 year old celebs that look great. I'm 19 and even know 34 is still way too young. Anyways, the new angels do not really compare to the old angels. After Adri, Ale, Bee, Lily and Candice leave, I think that's it for what we call bombshells. But still, some of the new angels are gorgeous, but I hope the spark my interest by the time the year is up. I even miss Karlie now.... Quote
tiika Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Oh, come on. And the day Dri, Ale, Candice... etc., were made angels I'm sure some people said they would never be "bombshells" as Heidy, Gisele, Selita, KK, Naomi, Tyra, etc. Quote
Prettyphile Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Lily and Bee are bombshells? Missed that memo. @toodarnhot - I tried! I made it a day, that's good right? Quote
PinkCouture Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 What's it like being a Victoria's Secret model? Victoria's Secret recently announced 10 new "angels," including Monika "Jac" Jagaciak. In this Q&A, Jac shares some of her little secrets, including what it's like to be a lingerie model and her craziest shoot. How old are you? 21 How long have you been modeling? Eight years – I actually started modeling when my sister suggested that I try it out. When I was 13, I went for a casting call in a shopping center back home in Poland. I got a call from an agent that very same day and have been modeling ever since. What was one of your craziest shoots/modeling experiences? A Photoshoot with Nick Knight for AnOther Magazine where the shoot was with a professional male belly dancer. It was very artsy and involved a lot of movement. You feel so silly during the shoot doing all of these crazy poses, but the photos end up so amazing and tell a great story. It turned out so well that month or so after we did fragrance commercial together inspired by the editorial. What's your favorite Victoria's Secret bra? Body by Victoria Lounge Bralette. It's super soft and comfortable for everyday lounging. It's perfect for layering and barely even feels like you're wearing a bra. I could live in it. What do you like best about the job? All of the places I get to travel to. Traveling and exploring the world is something I love to do outside of work too, so it's great when I get to see new places thanks to my job. What's it like being a lingerie model? It's like being an athlete. I was born into a family of athletes and ran track-and-field growing up so I wanted to go into an industry where it allows you to stay active. Being a Victoria's Secret Angel isn't only a full-time job, but also a full-time work out! Since I have such a busy schedule staying fit and healthy is super important. I make sure to take daily vitamins and train regularly to keep my body strong and energized. What's your least favorite thing about modeling? That it can be unpredictable. It's hard to know what's next especially when you first start out. Never in a million years did I think I would make it this far. Being a Victoria's Secret Angel is a dream come true and what's even more exciting is that it's only the beginning. What are some places you've traveled for work lately? Rome, Italy. We were there to shoot the Victoria's Secret Holiday campaign. I spent most of my time on set but had lots of pizza and gelato! Describe your ideal guy. Ambitious and honest. What's next for you? It's just beginning. We've all gone through so much to get here. In this industry to be a Victoria's Secret Angel is the launch of your career. When I look back, I've accomplished so much but now as an Angel, it's only the beginning. It's all very surreal, but exciting.
