COP11 Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I know I shouldn't do a thread on him, but he is starting to grow on me Jason Nicholas Miller (born December 24, 1980) is an American mixed martial arts middleweight fighter known for both his flashy entrances and exciting fighting style. Nicknamed "Mayhem," he primarily utilizes Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai, and trains at Team Quest in Temecula, California. He regularly co-hosts "Mayhem Mondays" on The Jason Ellis Show on Sirius satellite radio. Miller also hosts a reality show called Bully Beatdown, which airs on MTV and MTV2. He also announces for King of the Cage alongside Michael Schiavello. Mixed martial arts career Miller has fought in a variety of organizations, most notably Ultimate Fighting Championship, DREAM and Strikeforce. He holds wins over competition such as Falaniko Vitale, Ronald Jhun, Egan Inoue, Denis Kang, Kala Hose, Toby Imada, Robbie Lawler and Kazushi Sakuraba. After the Ronald Jhun fight, a riot broke out and Miller was punched in the back of the head by a fellow fighter, Mark Moreno. This set the stage for a grudge match, and Miller dominated Moreno, finishing him with an armbar at the end of round one- making the famous shaka sign before finishing him. Miller became most famous in a bloody battle with Canadian superstar Georges St. Pierre at UFC 52. He lost by unanimous decision. On September 2, 2006, Mayhem won the Icon Sport Middleweight title from "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler by arm triangle in the third round. In December of the same year, Mayhem lost his first title defense to Frank Trigg via TKO in the second round, a fight many thought he was the favorite to win. Miller is currently fighting for Japanese MMA-promotion DREAM where he was a part of the promotion's 2008 Middleweight Grand Prix. He was eliminated by Ronaldo Souza at DREAM.4 in the semi-finals of the tournament. Miller lost a unanimous decision to Jacare in a bout that saw him defend submissions for the majority of the time. Miller and Jacaré fought again, but this time for the Dream Middleweight belt. (title that is vacant since Gegard Mousasi moved to the Light Heavyweight division). The fight ended in a no-contest when Miller landed a soccer kick in Jacaré's forehead, which opened a large gash and prompted a doctor stoppage. Soccer kicks are not allowed in Dream so the fight turned in No Contest, since the kick was unintentional. Both fighters agreed to face each other in an event in September 2009. The future of this rematch became uncertain as de Souza later signed with the Strikeforce promotion. Miller fought Jake Shields on November 7, 2009 on CBS as a part of Strikeforce: Fedor vs Rogers. The fight was for Strikeforce's Middleweight title as Cung Le stepped down as champ to pursue his acting career. Miller lost the fight via unanimous decision. Although unable to resist Shields's takedowns, he scored a few slams himself late in the first round, and came the closest to finishing the fight out of either competitor when he sunk in a rear naked choke with 10 seconds remaining in the third round, also locking Shields up with a body triangle. The submission was scuppered by the end of the round time. Miller faced Tim Stout at Strikeforce: Nashville on April 17, 2010 and won the fight by TKO in the first round. Miller was expected to face Robbie Lawler on June 16, 2010 at Strikeforce: Los Angeles, but was removed from the card after his actions at Strikeforce: Nashville where he confronted Jake Shields for a rematch after Shields' win over UFC veteran and former Pride FC Welterweight and Middlweight Champion Dan Henderson. Although there was suspicion that Miller would fight Nick Diaz in October, the bout failed to come into fruition. "Mayhem" will instead be fighting against Kazushi Sakuraba on September 25, at Dream.16. In pre-fight interviews, Mayhem stated that he wished to be the first person to submit Sakuraba. He would go on to win the fight via arm triangle choke. Strikeforce: Nashville brawl During the post fight interview after Jake Shields victory over Dan Henderson, Miller got into the cage unauthorized where he interrupted Shields, asking, "Where's my rematch, buddy?" After both Gilbert Melendez and Shields pushed Miller away, Nick Diaz would then throw the first punch the start the brawl. Members of the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu camp, including Melendez, Nick Diaz and Nate Diaz, attacked Miller while Miller was restrained on the canvas by members of Diaz's camp. The fight was then broken up by referees, members of Dan Henderson's corner and members of security. Miller and five others were given three-month suspensions and fines of $5,000-$7,500. Strikeforce also pulled him out of a scheduled bout with Robbie Lawler.
