it's tainted by the mention of her boyfriend.

i don't think she can pull off this type of high fashion she's more suited to swimsuits but that's my personal opinion.

Reading the interview right now, If I see anything worthy I'll translate it.

But since this is Vogue and judging by the cover tittle, I bet it's more of the usual BS we always read.

Okay so ...

- I had no idea but her father died when she was 14 :( So her mother had to take two jobs and she and her sister started working at the local hospital during summer to help their mom.

- She has no lines in the Hercules movie, she has a very very very small role.

- She is planning to continue acting.

- She is obsessed with tomatoes and she even travels with tomatoes in her bag

- She said she needs to go to Russia at least twice a year to reconnect.

- Her grandmas are 77 & 88, both still alive of course.

- Dostoyevski is her favorite author.

- She wanted to be a writer when she was young.

- She is an orthodox Russian and when asked about Buddhism and yoga she said "I'm orthodox russian. When I need some kind of spiritual support I go to the church".

Other than that most of things we knew, that she is from a small town and didn't grow up rich, she entered a beauty pageant and won and that's how she started modeling so she could help her family. She then moved to Paris and wasn't easy at first blablabla ... Then she talks about her relationship a little but nothing too revealing there either, she does sound like she is very happy and in love.

Thanks Jazzy !!

Thanks for the recap MissLima, the things about her family and childhood, she's said before in Russian interviews, and I'm not surprised about her answer that she goes to church when she needs spiritual support.

Thanks for the Cavalli pics, didn't know she does Cavalli.?!

I thought it was just me hating on reading translated books but she mentioned she likes to read the books in Russian because no matter how good the translation is, it will never be as good as reading it how it was written.

I'll try to translate the whole thing tonight, I just posted the highlights because I'm working right now.

^ I read an interesting book recently that said something along the lines of how there are no 'translations', only 'interpretations'; I thought that was a pretty accurate way of describing it.

Nevertheless, thank you for the highlights. :hehe:

Love those Cavalli pics. She can really pull of animal print.

First part of the interview. I'll be editing this same post as I get more done. It's complete now!

Please take in consideration that I'm from Venezuela and the magazine is from Spain and they have a weird as hell accent and use some words/vocabulary just as weird as their accent so some expressions I had to change in order for them to make sense and so everyone would understand

Wild Heart

She says that at first she wouldn't make it to the end of the month. Now she has the world at her feet, a soccer/football God she calls 'hero' for boyfriend and Hollywood knocking her door. That's right, exclusively for Vogue and with Gucci, our explosive cover girl IRINA SHAYK.

I met her at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. I saw her and I was going to talk to her when she said even before i opened my mouth: "Don't even think about it", "Why did you think I was going to say something? I replied, "I didn't, but I know your ex-girlfriend". The man behind this story is american movie director Bret Ranter and the person saying the story is none other than the model in our cover. Perhaps we need to say that the director's ex-girlfriend, the also model Alina Puscau, has a physical resemblance to our model and Ratner admits that her words stayed with him "Truth is, she caught my eye. Plus she said it winking an eye", he laugh. Ratner is finishing the production of the film Hercules: The Thracian Wars, and Irina Shayk thanks to that first meeting in a party will make her movie debut as Megara, the hero's woman. "I wasn't at the casting -the filmmaker explains-, but I was so impressed when I saw the tape. She knows how to forget about herself and get in the role, she is smart and confident. And she's likeable. Everything an actress needs. Dwayne Johnson, who plays Hercules, told me that the day they shot together was the best of his life; and it was also the first one i wished I was the movie star instead of the director -he jokes-. Irina is like no other. All she needs to do now is to make good decisions"

Something that, at first look, works for her. The Russian has made a career thanks to good decisions, brands and magazines fight for her famous physic and photographers are transported to another dimension when they focus on those lips that don't belong in our dimension. Her body that has been seen in brands as Intimissi, Guess or Morelatto, has been in its perfect state in covers such as Sports Illustrated or at the orders of photographers like Testino; and her relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo only makes the legend of this model better for business, she is now splitting her time between her cinema debut  designing her second collection for Beach Bunny or her debut as a Vogue covergirl with the support of Gucci, something that she says from New York, has been absolutely magic "And everything I always dreamed it should be". But Irina is still grounded. And does not care about the side effects that sure, her presence has "Thanks, but it's taken out of proportion; some people like and some people don't" she says. Maybe in a humble Russian house at 178 cm under her arm and measures of 90-59-60 under the other it's the best way to start one of those modern fairytales where not matter how much others find you, it's very difficult to lose yourself.

As usual, Irina was discovered when she was with her sister at a beauty institute next to a modelling school. Then she went onto win Miss Chelyabinks. Until then her life was like any other mortal "I was born in a small town in Russia; my dad was a miner, he used to work in a coal mine; my mom was a music teacher. We never had too much oney but family bonds where and still are very strong. My father died when y was 14 years old, and that was the hardest moment for us; my mom got two jobs and me and my sister helped in the local hospital during summer to make extra money; very little money to be honest, to help with the house". The Miss Chelyabinsk title, however made her take new family responsabilities. "I was 19 and moving to a foreign country was a challenge. I knew there was a lot of rivalry and I didn't speak english, but my family needed the money and my sister was pregnant, so I decided to take the challenge. First stop was Paris. I read a lot, I had some ideas of how life in the West would be, and I knew there was a world outside my house, but the reality was very different. I felt like an outsider, I had big issues to communicate and I barely had enough to eat, even less for clothes. I remember the terror of that time I didn't have enough money to take the subway and I had to jump the barriers to get in ..." Things changed thanks to the amazing Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele "She was the first one to give me the opportunity to work with a top photographer, Mario Testino; and he was the piece that started the domino effect. I will always be thankful".

That's where Carine Roitfeld enters the scene "who has always been a good supporter" and, more recently, Riccardo Tisci, who got her exclusively for the Givenchy runway show. The rest it's a story that is still being written. To Irina, the fashion business is looks tough "Although all industries are. There's a lot of egos and you have to a find a way so it won't get to you. Peaplo loves you and people hates you, but it doesn't really have something to do with you". However, the model does not have big fears "I enjoy trying different things. When I got the script for Hercules, I saw that my character didn't have too many lines ... Actually, It didn't have lines at all! It's a small role, but a huge challenge! Brett Ratner is super professional and he knows how to create an amazing atmosphere on set, he makes you feel comfortable and Dwayne is an incredible actor and very funny". Irina, had another chance to practice with Penelope Cruz who directed her first short film for Agent Provocateour, she talks about the experience with the actress as her mentor "Penelope invited me to have dinner and asked me to be a part of the project. Of course I said yes right away. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to work with her. She's an amazing actress but also an amazing director. During the filming she was very clear with the instructions and she knew exactly what she was looking for. She also gives great acting advices that I think I could use in the future...". From this to an acting career there may be only some acting classes and the model says she is working on it "Yes, I am thinking about it. I won't let the opportunity to do it again pass if It comes"

The key to her meteoric career she says, are perseverance and perfectionism. "I work daily on body and soul. Every day. I try to think positive and don't let myself get lost in the negativity" She gives some credit to her genes, but she insists that looks only are not good enough. "I love working out at the gym; I have an amazing trainer who designed a routine especially for me, and an hour at the gym is the best way to start the day" Her addiction, she laughs, are tomatoes "I know it's weird, but I'm obsessed. I take them for breakfast and I even take them in my bags when I travel ... I'm an addict!" And she brings up a Russian ritual she would never give up, the Russian banya "It's similar to a sauna, but with dry heat. The best part is the massage with dry abedul or oak leafs, it's amazing for your skin and blood circulation". This reference to her natal Russia, as many others you can see in her tweets, are nothing compared to all the gossip that every mention -as little as it may be- about her romantic relationship creates. And still those references represent her Russian roots, back to her home and her family and she talks about them happily "My grandmothers are 77 and 88! The oldest one is a WWII veteran, she has never colored her hair and only uses organic products. They both had tough lives and had to fight adversity, I think I got that from them". She says she goes back home as often as she can, at least twice a year "It's a sacred moment; I need time with my family to recharge. I love Russian food and I miss it so much when I'm away. The pelmen are like ravioli, the okroshka, the barbecues ... Mi mother and my grandma are amazing cooks. I sleep and eat all day! And that's where I feel completely happy".

And avid reader, she also stands for her country in that and says, in case that there were any doubts that Dostoyevski is her favorite author, "It's an advantage being Russian because I enjoy the authors from my country in their language, I think it's impossible for a translation, no matter how good it's to capture the feel of every word, every twist, every hidden message. I could read Dostoyevski again and againd, and I always find something new". The confession goes beyond that whens we ask her about her love for writing "In school I dreamed of becoming a writer, but life gave me a good opportunity. Anyway, I love it. I visited my grandma once and I wrote a couple of things about her life, about how it was to fight for her country at 18 years, and how she got overcame that. It wasn't easy for her to talk about it, but I wrote it mostly for me". Irina's involvement with her country also translates into support for several child foundations, one of them being the hospital that helped her family when they were going through their hardest time. "That summer I was at the maternity section painting walls for a month and I earned $20. I remember the impact that the amount of abandoned children by their mothers that couldn't take care of them had in me, a lot of them ended up at orphanage. I told myself that if one day I could, I would do something for them". And Irina is very Russian, at the mention of any possible practice of Buddhism, yoga or any modern spiritual philosophy he answer is very simple "I'm Orthodox Russian. When I need some kind of spiritual support, I go to church".

Her spirit it's at its best. And West Village, the place where she decided to build her life has a lot to do with that "It's my favorite neighborhood; that's where I rented my first apartment when I moved to New York. I go out and run every morning all the way through West Side Highway, I take the sun on the grass and sometimes I have lunch right there. There's a lot of small stores and coffee shops that are not easy to find for everyone... They're my favorite! I love to walk my dog, look at the Statue of Liberty or New Jersey lightened at nigh. And during weekends they put a giant screen to watch movies, it's amazing!". That's also where she has her best memories with Cristiano Ronaldo, whom as she explains vaguely, met  "through mutual friends". She makes an exception and she speaks more about the relationship with the words of every in love woman "We've been together for three years and I'm enjoying my relationship. He's the perfect support system, he's always by my side and knows how to make me happy. He understands me perfectly and understand my job, that's very important to me. I love to my work and to travel, so I need a partner who understands what I do and gives me energy for it." She also shares some wisdom "Occasionally I can be a challenging person, and he has a lot of patient to deal with me; in that way sometimes I think my boyfriend is a hero. But I also think relationships are an exchange, and I don't mean it in a shallow way. It's hard work and you have to make efforts every single day, so I make an effort to give him the best of me and offer him my support every time he needs it. We understand each other very well, we have a similar education and we both know that right now is the time to focus in our careers. That's why our relationship is so special!" About wedding bells, she doesn't have much to say "I don't read the press too often, I'd rather read a book. Besides, people say too many things". There have been reports about the relationship back & forth but she stays loyal to her technique, not talking about it "I never speak about my relationship because I'm a very private person and I want to protect it. People gets frustrated and think I'm hiding something, but I think you need to set boundaries between your work and your personal life, so I try to make clear that I'm not going to make my relationship a public matter. People should understand that". What she has mentioned before is her wish of having a big family an live surrounded by dogs somewhere close to New York, and this time she doesn't contradict herself "Like any woman, I want to have children, a family and a lot of animals. But those are things you can't plan, the right time has to come and you never know when that will be for you". Maybe also seeing herself in that giant screen in West Side Highway she loves so much? "Maybe one day..." she says without false modesty, like one of those people who are used to their dreams becoming true.
