He won the oscar for TD so fair enough. Gladiator II seems from the trailer another standout for him. So maybe another oscar. Or at least another nomination.

I like the trailer too, it looks like a very fun film.  The comments section is filled with people mocking it though and just as funny.

After reading the wiki I think I figured out the general plotpoint based on the historical references and their names:

 

Gladiator II - Wikipedia

Macrinus - Wikipedia

 

Literally Denzel's character is Alonzo except from Rome.

Denzel is the master plotter.

 

The duel emperors will get killed one by one, first by one brother then the second by Denzel's plot.

 

Denzel takes power, and then is killed 1 yr later like his historical counterpart.. (literally what happens at the end of Training Day)
