Michael* Posted February 4, 2021 Posted February 4, 2021 Yeah, plus I think with regard to the film categories in particular, the pool of potential nominees would have looked very uneven because so many high-profile releases have been pushed to later dates. So consequently, although there are still genuine standouts, they're being mentioned alongside some clearly unworthy stuff. I can't imagine any other year where something like Emily In Paris might get nominated, for example. That being said, I should think it'll get prodigiously trounced by Schitt's Creek. Quote

Michael* Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I would maintain that it's been a surprisingly interesting year for film, one of the few upsides (that it should go without saying in no way redeems the horrific situation) of the pandemic has been the increased focus on passion projects and generally scaled-down stuff. Having said that, the Globes' nomination process has always been a bit ridiculous. Quote

The Globes has generally been the most ridiculed award show, and they have earned it. When the hosts are openly joking about the Globes without concern of offending anyone, that shows the status fairly clearly. To me, the best part of pandemic award shows has been no long walks to the stage. Quote
Michael* Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 Without the red carpet, it's a bit harder to collate photographs from the ceremony, plenty of awkwardly framed at-home video screengrabs though. Maria Bakalova got screwed (thankfully not by Rudy Giuliani ), although she probably would have won if they'd submitted her in the supporting category, like they're apparently doing for the Oscars. Enrico_sw Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Quote 'People got sick of virtue signalling and being lectured by people who had everything': Ricky Gervais criticises Golden Globes as the awards ceremony goes behind closed doors https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10380765/Ricky-Gervais-shares-hosting-Golden-Globes-changed-comedic-routine-10-years.html Oh, I like to see the second part of this movie. Ricky Gervais comes back in 2022 to bring us Terminator 2: judgement day. Hollywood is Mordor and Ricky is Frodo. Quote
