Michael* Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 ^Now there's nowhere to go but down in terms of tone... So, to my delight and surprise there appears to be a new Kurt Vile album due for release in April. For now, here's a video showing the creation of the album cover mural, as well as the obligatory free download of the featured track. Quote
Michael* Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 So I just got back from Laneway. Bat For Lashes. Blew. Me. Away. She looked so beautiful, and sounded even better - I was so impressed with how flawless her voice was. Her opening of Lilies will stay with me for a long time Awesome. And continuing on the Bat For Lashes theme, here's the recent video for 'A Wall' and as a bonus, a nice little 'behind the scenes' film too... Quote
donbot Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 ^Awesome New Postal Service! :chicken: The Postal Service are helping celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their seminal debut Give Up with the release of a deluxe reissue of the record, featuring two new songs. One of those new tracks, 'A Tattered Line Of String', was unveiled this week. Check it out below: Responding to questions underneath the YouTube video, The Postal Service's label Sub Pop had this to say about the origins of the song. "To the best of our knowledge at this time, no, The Postal Service is not currently working on new material. And no, "A Tattered Line of String" is not a Give Up leftover from 2003. For those of you who like details like this, this song was actually begun in 2006 and finished up in 2012". The Postal Service make their live return at Coachella this April. Quote
Michael* Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Yet more Bat For Lashes now - this one is a performance of 'Marilyn' for a vaguely Valentine's Day-themed feature on Vogue.com. Natasha is on electric guitar, which I don't recall ever seeing before. I could really easily listen to it all day. Quote
Michael* Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 The Strokes' 'All The Time' is currently streaming. It's quite brilliant, and probably wouldn't have sounded out of place on 'Is This It'. Team 'One Way Trigger' or Team 'All The Time' - that is the question. Quote
Michael* Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Oh no, not again! What do you think of Mumford by the way M*? I've always got the impression you're not really a fan. I probably should be, it's the sort of thing I'd usually like and I'm a fan of pretty much all the artists you'd closely associate with them. I've just never really felt compelled to hop on the bandwagon, as it were. Some kind of weird blind spot, I guess. Quote
Michael* Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Another new one by Suede. Much prefer this one to 'Barriers'. Quote
Michael* Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 And 'All The Time' finally popped up on YouTube... Quote

Michael* Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 ^Really like the sound of that one. The opening gave me a slight 'How Soon Is Now' flashback. I probably should be, it's the sort of thing I'd usually like and I'm a fan of pretty much all the artists you'd closely associate with them. I've just never really felt compelled to hop on the bandwagon, as it were. Some kind of weird blind spot, I guess. Is that ever since Little Lion Man broke? You should check them out live some time.. might change your mind about them Kind of since always really, even in the early days I found it tricky to get into them in any significant way. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a chance to see 'em live though, they always seem to go down brilliantly at festivals and suchlike. Quote
Michael* Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 At the risk of reaching Bat For Lashes overkill on this page, here's the newly released (and quite brilliant) video for 'Lilies'. Quote
Stormbringer Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The (now not so) new single by Alice in Chains Their new album "The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" should be released in May. Quote

Michael* Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 New Primal Scream song, complete with rather unnerving video. That Kevin Shields, will he ever stop releasing new music? Quote
Michael* Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Adam Green and Little Joy's Binki Shapiro channel Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra. Pretty cool stuff. Quote
Michael* Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 ^It's funny, the lead track off every new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album seems to skew the feel of the rest of it somehow, if that makes any sense whatsoever. But I've no idea what to expect after hearing that. It's growing on me with every listen though, and *spoiler alert* the gospel choir knocked me for six at the end. Quote
