katchitup Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 I just got back from Wolf....and WOW. Leo...I mean. I thought it couldn't get better than Calvin Candie, I mean Jordan might be Leos best performance hands down. He was hilarious, and straight up crazy and out of control. I didnt think it could get better with his acting, but it did lol If he doesn't win something for this it is a travesty. The movie itself I really enjoyed too, it was laugh out loud funny. Funnier than I expected. And it didn't feel long either, and didn't really drag. The scenes felt quick, face paced, like Goodfellas. Though this is really in a whole other category that whats really been done before..Its so like it, yet not at all. Its definetly one of the best leo-marty collabs, and marty films period! Also theater was packed full! The audiance I was with really loved it to (I think some were still drunk from christmas so they were a little rowdy ) Quote
la veronika Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 You already saw it! wow, im waiting for it to premiere in my city! Quote
katchitup Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 ^bahaha yep it opened yesterday, I went at night after christmas dinner with some friends The theater was packed too! Just saying though, DiCaprios best performance of his career. He is hands down HILARIOUS and out of his mind crazy..there are scenes in this movie that will be as iconic as the scenes in Goodfellas. la veronika Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Thanks again for your review. Again, I have to wait for the premiere in my city. Quote
PinkCouture Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I just saw the movie, Here are my Initial thoughts: - Leo's performance was memorable and it was nice to see him expand his repertoire, but I did not think it was his best and most powerful performance. It could be b/c of the factor I list right below this one. Either way I am rooting for Leo during award season just b/c I like him - The movie was unnecessary long. I kept on looking at my watch every 15 minutes or so. I understand it was a recount of events but I felt it could have been tighten up better---directing and writing could also be a contributing factor. The movie was kinda "slow" at first but about a third to half way in it started to pick up. - I enjoy seeing the many faces Leo made and of course his nice ass (Y) - Matthew McConaughey, for the short amount of screen time he had his performance was memorable - Margot Robbie was great at playing a seductive bitchy MILF - Most of the supporting cast did pretty well. - Loved the ending. Very smart & witty. - Interesting soundtrack. I like! - A grown-up comedic version of The Basketball Diaries ??? - House of Lies with a white dude as the main character??? - Overall, I give it 7/10 Quote
PinkCouture Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Wolf of Wall Street Breaks F-Word Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” is all about excess. From orgies on a plane to cocaine and cash (or “fun coupons” as Leonardo DiCaprio’s character calls them), the financial drama thrives in taking it up a notch. So it should be no surprise that Paramount’s R-rated film sets the all-time record for the use of the f-word. According to Wikipedia, the word “fuck” is used 506 times over “The Wolf of Wall Street’s” 180-minute running time. Previously, the record for a non-documentary was Spike Lee’s 1999 film “Summer of Sam” with 435 instances. “Wolf of Wall Street” isn’t the first time Scorsese, 71, has dabbled in the profane. The Oscar-winning director has two other projects in the f-word top 20, including “Casino” (422) and “Goodfellas” (300). variety.com Quote
Boomer Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I just saw it- classic brilliant Martin, and the best thing Leo has ever done (which is saying a lot)! Plus, Margot Robbie and a couple of the other young ladies are just off the scale!! Loved every minute of it!! Quote
la veronika Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 yeah, I agree. It's was a great movie! Hope it wins lots of awards and an Oscar for Leo. Quote

I'd agree that the movie was probably 30 minutes too long, though for me it only started to really drag in the third act. The first two hours went by rather quickly. I thought it was Leo's best performance to date, just because he finally took some risks and went outside of his comfort zone. I cant' see him agreeing to the candle scene five years ago. He also displayed some comic talent that I wasn't aware he possessed. I agree that the supporting cast was pretty brilliant. I especially liked Rob Reiner as his dad, Jonah Hill as his sociopath of an associate and Jon Bernthal as the drug dealer. Bernthal especially was a surprise because I find him incredibly annoying on TWD. McConaughey stole the movie with his ten minute (if that much) cameo. And I agree on Margot Robbie, she was pretty great and held her own opposite a guy who has been in the business for about three decades longer than she has (Leo is a child star, Margot only started acting for real at the age of 18). The fact that she was scorching hot didn't exactly hurt. The role reminded me a bit of ScarJo's in "Don Jon" (bitchy girls with a strong Jersey/Brooklyn accent) but ScarJo didn't leave half the impression on me that Margot did. And I agree about the music, it was surprising but fun to see a Scorsese movie with the likes of the Foo Fighters and Plastic Bertrand ( ) on the soundtrack. Quote
PinkCouture Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 ^ I think being scorching hot will get someone's foot in the door but it is their talent that will get the other foot in. There are many women hotter than Margot, but blocks of bricks have more talent than they do Margot definitely shined and I look forward to seeing her next project Quote

RafSecret Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 EXCLUSIVE: Wolf of Wall Street DVD will be an HOUR longer - with even more F-bombs and longer sex scenesThe DVD version of the Wolf of Wall Street will feature another hour's worth of explicit sex scenes and F-bombs, it was revealed today.Producers confirmed to MailOnline that the movie - already under fire for its F-bombs - will feature the extra content and viewers will have the option of watching a four-hour version.Leonardo Di Caprio as Jordan Belfort will unleash longer rants and viewers will see more of his 'Duchess' wife Margot Robbie. However Joey McFarland and Riza Aziz insisted the most extreme scenes are in the movie theater version currently showing, or it would have 'sanitized' the debauchery, deceit and insanity of Belfort - who served almost two years on jail for his crimes.McFarland and Aziz, speaking exclusively at the Directors Guild of America Awards, revealed Scorsese originally shot a four-hour version, which was edited down for its initial release. The extra 60 minutes will be released in the DVD and Blu Ray release later this spring. The flick - nominated for the best picture Oscar - had a record 506 F words - 231 less than in Belfort's original book. When asked what about what percentage of expletives fans can expect in the DVD release. Riza, who runs Red Granite Pictures with McFarland, added:'It's tough! You figure another hour so I'd figure another 25% more! I've never done an F Bomb count. I am sure there's plenty more!'And for nude scenes, he continued: 'I think a bit, the sex scenes run a little longer but nothing extreme.'McFarland said: 'I think we are going to have some good surprises to be honest with you the movie is not much different in its longer form, it's just longer versions of scenes. 'Nothing really got cut out so it's a lot more of what you've already seen.'McFarland, who helped finance the movie, defended its controversial content and the high level of profanity. He admitted that Di Caprio, Scorsese and film bosses knew that the F bomb count would help get them publicity. But they insisted sanitizing the story would have ruined the movie's success.Joey added: 'The reality of it is we didn't want to make a formulated movie that we've all seen like the classic rise and fall on Wall Street - that was boring to us. 'We really wanted to show the path of an individual that left a wake of destruction behind him and you experience this story through his eyes.'He didn't think about the victims, he didn't think about what was behind him; it was just about more, more, more and looking forward.'We just wanted to show this one guy's debauched journey.'Despite the sex and profanity The Wolf Of Wall Street is close to banking $200m worldwide - an astonishing success for an R-rated movie.Wolf lost out to Gravity for best picture director at the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.Di Caprio bagged the Golden Globe for best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture- Comedy or Musical.Source: Dailymail.co.uk Quote
