Michael* Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 So, this is now officially the highest-earning R-rated movie of all time, grossing $745m worldwide and beating the previous record holder 'The Matrix Reloaded'. Which I actually had no clue was an R-rated movie. Quote
Kevork89 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 It's pretty amazing and it's the highest grossing of all X-Men movies too. Quote

Stromboli1 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I pre-ordered Deadppol and it should be here tomorrow. I haven't seen it yet, but I have heard & read really goods things about the film. Quote
Stromboli1 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I just watched Dead Pool. This was just a fun film and loved the tone of the movie. I loved the soundtrack too. out of 5 Quote

I can't shake the feeling that they've made a movie for adolescent boys that only the adults are able to see. 3/10 for me. Quote

Dead Pool was made for fans of the character and stayed true to the character. I guess some people wouldn't like that instead of trying for mass appeal. Read the first post on this page because the movie was ultimately a huge success. I thought Dead Pool was refreshing because I have comic book movie fatigue. For me the Marvel comic book movies were starting to get boring even though they are ultimately building & intertwining the stories for a grandiose payoff at the end. Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 This was a very pleasant surprise. This and Ant-man both were finally something a bit different from the Marvel universe. I hope for much more of the same. Glad it's already getting a sequel. Quote

The thing about Deadpool is that he's a pretty niche character who doesn't have a great deal of recognition beyond very specific circles. Fox's marketing department made up for that by bringing in viewers who were just as interested in seeing it as a raunch comedy as they were in seeing it as a superhero story. I wouldn't say it worked because it was R-rated though, far from it. I think it worked because it was anarchic and irreverent and used the freedom of that rating to amp up those elements. It took advantage of existing inside a known universe and subverting it, a bit like punk rock kicking against a more corporate product. Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I agree with the notion of Marvel fatigue. Especially when it comes to their huge, ensemble films. My favorite two of the past couple of years have been "Deadpool" and "Ant-man", precisely because they were smaller in scale and different from the rest. Quote
RIP_Cabrini_Green Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 Absolutely fell in love with this movie... Watched it last night for the first time. When I first saw his face I initially thought of Freddy Kruger....and then Bam....minutes later there's a Freddy Kruger reference. Love it! Quote
