In the book lore, there is a explanation for this however in the game it looks like a "trick" they used to make Geralt a more neutral protagonist and less of the deeply tired, sarcastic, and cynical man he is. I don't know the books and games as much as you do, so it's difficult for me to say. He definitely has a monotone voice, which somehow gives him confidence. He sometimes has cynical dialog options, but it's a bit mild imho (maybe he's more cynical in the books, it would certainly fit the witcher's world). In terms of voices, the baron, Letho, Emhyr, Ciri, Veserys, Triss, Zoltan are great. There are also a lot of pretty good voices in the random NPCs, but oftentimes I recognize the voice actor from one NPC to another, and I don't like it (same for their faces). They could've used more actors (probably a lot more expensive though). Quote
Enrico_sw Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Do you like Letho? I don't know much about him (though I know he's a regicide and he had a pretty big story in the previous games), but I like his style. Quote

However, I don't like the visual design of the character. He looks like a deformed bodybuilder. He kind of reminds me of a gunslinger from a western. Quote

However, he is bitterly sarcastic, which conflicts with this role. I liked the voices too, particularly Yennifer/Ciri's voice actress. Quote

Enrico_sw Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 The Japanese version sounds weird in this game... Quote

I hummed the song all day (particularly when I was walking in the streets). It reminded me of a girl. Honestly, I've rarely been that impressed by artwork. These guys work every detail and the result is always great (I read that the guys who invented Gwent were allowed to create this game, only if the made it in three days. And they did.) Quote

I like the artwork a lot myself and TBH it only gets better. I think Blood and Wine has some of the best artwork in gaming. Of the base game I like the war torn region in the beginning and Skellige. Do you know that there is a stand-alone Gwent game? Quote

Yes, I've heard that (I think you were the one who told me). I like this gwent, so maybe it's good as a small game on your phone when you need to kill time (in the train, etc.), but I don't think I'd buy it for my computer and I wouldn't spend hours on it. It seems like a lot of people who like playing fantasy card games (like Magic: the Gathering) really enjoyed Gwent to the point that a stand-alone game was made. BTW the Ciri in the Gwent advertisements is better looking than in the base game: 10 year anniversary video: Quote
Enrico_sw Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 This game is much wider than just the Slavic mythology. Skellige islands are a mix of Irish and Nordic traditions/landscapes. The Nilfgaardians are very Romans. And Novigrad looks a lot like Firenze during Savonarola's reign. Of course, the Northern Realms look very Polish. Quote
Cult Icon Posted August 22, 2019 Author Posted August 22, 2019 Blood and Wine is France-oriented BTW I definitely didn't notice the Florence influence- being not familiar with Italy. How do you tell with the Irish? The Nilfgaardians don't seem Roman to me- mainly medieval english Quote
