New to the team is Russian model Tanya Mityushina. Born on the 19th of February 1992, Tanya grew up in the Ural Mountains. Once a fellow model showed her pictures to Elite Modeling Agency, it was a wrap and the Russian found herself departing to Los Angeles. She might be one of the few models who didn’t exactly set out to be a model, something which is still growing on her. Well it really has and she has gone on to shoot for GQ which resulted in one smoking hot photo shoot. Besides her work for the men’s magazine Tanya has worked for Victoria’s Secret, GUESS and proving that she’s no one trick pony, dabbled in acting. She played a small role in the 2013 movie Jon Don and is set to appear in the upcoming movie Rise. However her biggest accomplishment so far has to be her feature in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Her shoot in Malta for the magazine introduced her to the world and it can only go up from here for the 23 year old. Like many of today’s models, social media has also helped propel her into everyone’s lives, and it’s not difficult to see why. Boasting 90 500 followers and growing, GQ named her as one of their “models to watch on Instagram” and by looking at her feed its only a matter of time before she’s all over yours!

WORLD SWIMSUIT BORNEO 2016 DIARY - DAY 2

Today was our first full day of shooting and the team was up early to grab a quick bite for breakfast before shooting. We started with exotic beauty Mia Kang, a newbie to the team but not to the industry, who’s main shots for the magazine were being shot at the Spa Village.

Although it was overcast, no rain fell and we were able to get some great shots including great sequence in the koi pond.

We followed that up with some fun social media stuff, also with Mia, at the pool bar and its adjacent lawn. This is also where we saw Mia put some of her Muay Thai training into action – be warned folks, she’s fierce!

That all took us up to lunch, and after eating and taking a short break the team split for the second half of the day. The photo and video crew hopped on a boat with South African stunner Jessica Buchanan to go shoot at the water village location we had scouted yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mia had a private yoga session with Gaya Island Resort’s guest instructor, David Kinnane.

With a good day’s work behind us, we broke for the day, grabbed some dinner and retreated to our rooms to get some rest. Tomorrow we’re welcoming another new face (you’ll have to stick around to find out who it is), and working on more video with Mia.

Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat for exclusive content and regular updates.

With thanks to our sponsors: Roxy, Fox, O’Neill Swimwear, Seafolly, USN, Billabong, Himalaya Herbals, Rip Curl, Actos Skin Shoes, Bulova, Havaianas, Mistral, Canon, Super-Max, Malibu Rum, Photohire, Tropitone, Memi, and SA Rugby.

The latest model to join the World Swimsuit team for this year’s Borneo shoot is Texas born Kara Del Toro. Now based in Los Angeles, Kara was discovered by an agent in her hometown around 2014. Like Jessica Strother before her, Kara has actually featured in our weekly Fresh Face post and now she’s on set with us. Being an LA resident means her Instagram and her 192k followers are always treated to endless stunning bikini and sun soaking shots and we just can’t get enough! Kara is no stranger to swimsuit modeling as she has been featured in Beach Bunny’s 2015 campaign and was a finalist in their 2014 Model Search competition. Besides working for the bikini brand Kara graced the pages of Surfing magazine as well as Harper’s Bazaar and men's magazine FHM. Arguably Kara’s biggest gig so far has to be her feature in Carl’s Jr commercial where she helps promote their TexMex burger. She follows the likes of Kate Upton, Charlotte Mckinney and Heidi Klum. That’s not bad company to find yourself if you ask us. Be on the lookout for the beach bombshell and the rest of the crew in Borneo.

Born in Northridge California Jessica originally started modeling at the age of 14 when she was seen by her teacher. At the age of 17 Jessica was sitting outside a Cheesecake Factory when her now manager Jim Jordan came up to her and wanted to take her career to the next level. Since then Jessica has been in the pages of NYLON, Seventeen, Glamour and Teen Vogue. Not too long ago Jessica was one of our Fresh Faces and now she joins us in Borneo, what a turn of events. Jessica has modeled for Victoria’s Secret’s Pink line, H&M, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Triumph and has even walked the runway for a certain Kanye West and his collaboration with Adidas last year. Looking to add to her already impressive résumé will be her shoot with World Swimsuit in Borneo. Her stock is on the rise and we’re sure that it won’t be long before Jessica makes her mark on the entire industry.

WORLD SWIMSUIT BORNEO 2016 DIARY - DAY 3

Today we had a slightly later start as the weather hasn’t been playing along all to nicely. Nevertheless, the show must go on and we kicked things off with some hero shots for Mia Kang at the spa. As always, she was amazing both on and off camera.

Right after finishing up with her we headed to a beautiful room’s balcony to nail down some social media footage with World Swimsuit first-timer, Jessica Strother. From the first frame to the last she was an absolute joy, always up for some fun and often flashing her bright, infectious smile. She even took videographer Richard Hughes through a few yoga poses, which he performed admirably!

With that wrapped up we broke for lunch at our usual spot, the Fisherman’s Cove restaurant. Before heading off to tackle the second half of the day we squeezed in a few quick poolside shots with Jessica, also for social media.

Our second shoot location was the lush Gaya Island Resort jungle. Lead by Justin, the resort’s intrepid resident naturalist, we headed off with Mia. We shot at several locations and had to hike to each one, but Mia was a trooper, smiling all the way. Justin also made the going considerably easier, having carved an entire staircase into the side of a valley in just two days, to give us access to unique spot.

The day was topped off by a lovely dinner date with the even lovelier Jessica. The resort arranged an exclusive Sinagang Steamboat dinner, complete with a private butler/chef, and we dined overlooking the calm waters as the full moon rose.

5 minutes ago, peroxideblonde said:

how so?

Well she has been really excited for the last few days about a really exciting shoot that she left last night from NYC for.

She followed WS I think like a week ago, I saw.

Unless it's S.I......I'm not completely sure though. WS would be more realistic than S.I. but who knows. Maybe I'm looking too much into it.
