So I have to conclude from it that people can't wear those necklaces with a cross in the street? Laicism is about not affiliating with any particular religion or set of beliefs; not about banning them. And most of us here don't speak French so there's little point in reposting that unless you take the time and common courtesy to translate it. I would if it wasn't such a terrible piece. Quote
frenchkiki Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 ^^ Yes people can wear whatever they want in the streets (just no being naked) secularism do not apply in the street just "governmental" building or at work. Unless your boss agree on let you wear religious signs. 7 hours ago, jj3 said: Wow, that's huge. As i said, here, men are not allowed to show their balls in the street or on the beach. Same rules for the rest. Same rules for everybody. Men and women. The problem JJ is that the rules are not the same for men & women I see men wearing the Qamis at the beach I don't know by what mystery? the police leave them alone 7 hours ago, jj3 said: You both don't understand the principle of laicité in the way that France is using it : No sign of god in the public square. No matter the religion, the sex, or the color of skin. Could you say burkini is a simple outfit like another one ? I repost this, and i stop to talk about it. Laïcité is the freedom of conscience and freedom of worship, secularism guarantees to believers and non-believers the same right to freedom of expression of their beliefs. It ensures both the right to change religion as the right to join a religion. The secular Republic ensures the equality of citizens against the public service , regardless of their beliefs or beliefs. And + the right of the citizen says that you can pray wherever you want -even in the street- as long as it doesn't create public troubles. So basically what's happening in France right not is totally against secularism & against the right of the citizen. So yes, you can't show your religion at school or town house or at work BUT beaches or shops or the street are not forbidden places. Like it or not but the women wearing a burkini or men wearing Qamis have the right as citizen (or not) to wear whatever they want. 5 hours ago, Prettyphile said: Staying out of this debate but that burkini is awesome and I'd wear one! The idea of my porcelain skin getting tanned is a big no no, and I do like the beach so this is a win win for me... Pair that with adorable Parasol and sunscreen and we're good to go!.. I gonna get one (not even kidding). I also like 1920's style swimsuits. I am Modern Women hear me roar. we can make a group purchase or something? Quote

frenchkiki Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 And I will stay on the beach!! Because I soon as i remove all my beach clothes to run in the water in bikini, men applause, women are crying and the babies are wishing i am their mama! Quote

And not to the whole society to make efforts to do that. My vision, my opinion. I don't really see how they can win, then. The reason why the burkini was first designed was to help Muslim women make that effort to integrate, and the state's response was to create a law instituting intolerance against them. All the ban will do is cause more division and create more inequality, it’s so knee-jerk that it calls into question the capacity for rational or logical thinking by those in power. Quote

jj3 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Natalie Portman: People in LA are much nicer than Parisians >> http://pagesix.com/2016/08/26/natalie-portman-people-in-la-are-much-nicer-than-parisians/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=P6Twitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow Quote “There’s a lot of rules of politeness and codes of behavior there that you have to follow,” Portman said. “When you go in some place, you have to say ‘bonjour’ before you say anything else, and then you have to wait two seconds before you say anything else.” If you don’t follow this protocol, she says, “They’ll think you’re super rude and then they’ll be rude to you.” OMG yes, all that rules, people are sooo polite, i can't believe it. Life is so hard. I have to say Bonjour ... BONJOUR ! ... Damn Parisians ! lol Quote In February of this year, Millepied stepped down as dance director of Opera de Paris*, Paris’ premier ballet company, amid reports that there was tension between him and some of the company’s star dancers. He held the position for 15 months. *No, dear Natalie, your husband has been fired. And it's your revenge to say that. How humiliating for you it has been to go back in LA (like a poor shit) after your husband has been fired, isn't it ? Is Leon reminds you something ? Quote
Lyla Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 One of my friends lived there for a year and she said kinda the same, that Paris isn't such a great place and people are rude there. I believe her. @jj3 Quote
PinkCouture Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 The people Boston/Cambridge thinks Natalie Portman is hypocrite. I will just leave it at that Quote
jj3 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Natalie Portman : Hey people from LA (PRODUCTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!), i loooove you so muuuuch ! I'm not a traitor, Parisians retained me there ! Ew Paris, EW ! Quote

Idk. Bonjour ? EW Quote
Lyla Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Maybe the bigger Muslim population makes the South of France nicer. don't you think, jj? Quote

Lyla Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 But you always say you have a lot.. so, there's a lot around both locations, and your area is still nicer. Huh? How can you explain this? Chill Quote

I would say the rudest people on average I have encountered in a "big" city would be in Amsterdam. Though I do think it does help - in general - if you can speak the language in France. Quote
frenchkiki Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Nathalie Portman is an idiot. Parisian are rude? Yes they are. All of them? Of course not. Most of them are real nice. Nathalie Portman is an idiot. They say "hello" to someone before to ask something? OMG!! Rude assholes! That idiot stayed in the most expensive & secure neighborhood in Paris (like in LA) and she complain because rich people are not smiling at her kids? Damn! Poor rich woman! She thinks people in LA are nicer ? The rich people drinking kale juices and hire the "poor Mexicans" as maid and gardener? Or the people in restaurant/shops/hotel/the surgeon whom fixed her nose/etc who are paid to be nice with her because she is famous? Nathalie Portman is an idiot. And in about a week i am waiting for the "After Natahalie Portam bashed the Parisians, she apologies" Why? Because Nathalie Portman is an idiot. Quote

Where your friend was from? Quote
