Sergio Ramos press conference

"We must be humble and remain calm, and hopefully we will win the League"

Sergio Ramos is a symbol of youth, power and leadership at Real Madrid. The defender talked about the good vibes and optimism on the team. The former Sevilla player said he would like Betis to win in Barcelona.

You will have to support Betis this weekend...

Only a little. We have to support them because we want them to win at Camp Nou.

Do you believe Betis won't try hard to win in Barcelona?

Every team prepares for a match, but I only think about my own games. We have to keep winning despite what Barcelona and Betis do this weekend.

But you don't depend solely on yourselves...

We haven't had the best of seasons, but we have great chances of winning the League now... Unfortunately, we don't solely depend on what we can do. We have to wait for Barcelona to drop points.

Do you think the match between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the Calderón Stadium will be decisive?

Yes. Atletico will have a lot at stake and the match will be very hard fought. Let's hope the final score benefits us.

What do you think about Barcelona playing in the King's Cup final at the Bernabéu?

Everyone has his own opinion. I personally have great respect for that competition and I think it would be great to have the final at the Bernabéu. I enjoy watching football, so I will try to go to the game. We hope the Club and the stadium is respected. We find it natural for Barcelona to celebrate winning the title at the Bernabéu if they are victorious, but they should do it with respect.

They first have to defeat Getafe in the semifinals. I always want the best team to win, except for when the team I support plays. Getafe have great players and they are having an excellent season. Barcelona shouldn't think they have already gone through to the final before playing the second leg in Getafe.

Do you think Espanyol can be a tricky opponent?

They could be and that's why we should respect them and keep an eye open at all times. They seem to be thinking only about the UEFA Cup final, but I think they will try to play at a very high level. Every team does its best against Real Madrid. We will have to dominate, keep ball control and try to score as soon as possible.

Are Madrid and Barcelona the only teams in the fight for the League title?

That's what it looks like today, but the difference in points betwen all the teams at the top is very small and anything could happen. We can't be too confident. Everyone wants to win the League.

Do you think Barcelona's spirit is broken?

I don't care, I only think about us and about the good moment we're going through both on the pitch and in the dressing room. We are united, and this shows in our game and in the good results we are earning.

Does the squad ever think about the points you dropped in Santander?

The game against Racing is a thing of the past. Those points would have done us a lot of good, but we shouldn't think about it. We have five 'finals' left and we have to do our best to win them all.

What do you think about the possible signing of Metzelder?

I don't know him. I've heard a lot of good things about him and I know he is one of the best attacking defenders in the world. If he comes to help the team he will be greeted with open arms.

The President thinks the League title is practically won...

We must be humble and remain calm, and hopefully we will win the League.

You've scored four goals so far. How many would you like to score in total?

Ten wouldn't be bad! Seriously, I would like to score a couple more. It would prove everything is working out for us.

Will you miss Beckham's crosses next season?

We all will. The fans and the whole squad are very fond of David. No one has his touch. He helps us all in the attack.
