A country who is not politically divided is a dictatorship. Or Monaco It's a stupid magazine/stupid article but I do agree that it is 'more divided', politically and economically.. compared to the 1990s. In a sense, the US is back where they were in the 1930s (secular stagnation, tail end of the business cycle, extreme income inequality) and with all the negative politics associated with it. Both parties have weak credibility and gallup polls show that people don't trust the mass media anymore. The US has consumer and governmental debt at around 2 x GDP with extremely inflated health care and education costs. The world is largely waiting for the 4th Industrial revolution. Trump knows this as well. Like the 1930s there is a rise of anti-establishment type political leaders. Quote

Where the trees of the silent past Brooded still in the chequered shade, On a sudden the shapes of a winter’s tale Leap to life in the listening glade. Here dense and solemn the forest stands, Here the song of the years of old, Since the days of our forefathers, fighters sad, Lives in the deaf mist’s silent hold. Spectral autumn is with us now, Men are few, and their numbers wane, In his cloak of eddying mist-wrack treads Grey November the hill-girt plain. Suddenly, strangely the plain anew Clothes with rushes and woodlands green Its limbs of November, its limbs of fog And hides in the mist of the years that have been. Only bloodshed and mystery, Footprints ancestral in ancient ways, Only the forest, only the reeds, Only the madmen of vanished days. Lost and ancient the traveller rides, Through new grown brushwood upon his way, No light shines forth, and no lamp burns, Unseen the villages of today. Villages unseen, shuddering, Dream of the past and dumbly sleep. From the mist and the forest, the ancient, the dark, The wolf, the bear and the great elk leap. Lost and ancient, the horseman rides, Blind the trot of the horse’s feet, Of the forest that was, of the reeds that waved The fettered spirits start at their beat. Quote

Cult Icon Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 As of 12/13/2016, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabinet_of_Donald_Trump It looks like the US gov't is now being run by Oil & Gas, Heavy Industry, Real estate/construction, the Marine Corps, Wall Street, Christian social conservatives, school voucher advocates, and Fast Food This is a decided negative towards environmentalism/green industries, employee rights, and public education. The sec of labor is now a Fast Food Tycoon who is opposed to the minimum wage and wanted to grow one of the most worthless and most low paying industries (the fast food business). Quote

I think he’s genuinely looking for people who share his priorities for these agencies.” ... The Trump lovefest marks an evolution for conservative activists, who once viewed Trump with deep skepticism, pointing to his earlier, liberal iterations and past statements on everything from abortion to health care to Social Security. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/trump-conservative-dream-team-231972 Quote
