I think she talked about it in some mid-late 2021 Instagram story (couldn't find it, prob. didn't save it). The imposter account is older than the @Nicolacav_ account, so maybe she really didn't have the account back then? Or maybe she only explained that the imposter isn't her. I don't remember.

I've seen that happen before (Oh Polly Denim). I don't use Instagram, but it's probably a feature.
