Stromboli1 Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 Best match of the tournament so far. Thought Japan had it the bag up 2-0. Quote
Sanni Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Loved both games today! Slightly disappointed in Japan losing but on the other hand it advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament with a pretty poor game from the viewers’ POV. Quote

He did flop around like a fish on dry land after that Mexican player stepped on his foot. I’m sure it hurt but not that much. He jumps up when there's any physical contact and then rolls around. Neymar is an excellent player that doesn't need to do those theatrics. Quote

They all have the potential to bring a lightning of surprise! In Russia 2018, everything is possible! Quote
Stromboli1 Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 ^It's called get the fuck up and stop rolling around. I guess you didn't catch that stamp either at the end by Neymar. Quote

Stromboli1 Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 ^I took it within the context of the match..... Mexico was losing and Neymar was rolling around wasting time. Call it strategy if you'd like, but that stuff ruins the sport. Quote

Sanni Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 That moment came around 8 minutes before he stepped on Neymar’s ankle. At the 62-minute mark, he pushes on Neymar even though they are not on the ball. Neymar falls down and remains in a seated position. Then it seems that Neymar refuses Layun’s “help” in getting up, which further provokes the Mexican player and he grabs Neymar from behind and lifts him up. Quote
Stromboli1 Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 ^Brazil was winning at the time. I guess we can agree to disagree about Neymar. Quote
Sanni Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Definitely a player who falls down easily must be one of the most annoying types for the opposing team. I’ve been trying to think why Neymar does what he does. He was the Man of the Match but that has been overshadowed by his overreactions to receiving fouls. Maybe he feels that he gets fouled all the time, so he is gonna do what he can so that his rivalries cannot get away with it. Especially if he feels that the referees give passes to players who foul him because he is naturally a target for every team. One of the problems seems to be that honesty doesn’t always get rewarded. If you “man up,” the other player might not get a card he deserves. (But in this instance people have been saying that Neymar’s actions caused Layun not to receive a rightful red card.) Anyways, it is bad when people are saying that even Ronaldo wouldn’t do what Neymar does. I guess Neymar has a lot of maturing to do. He is the Justin Bieber of football? (Although he doesn’t seem to have the mean streak that Justin can have.) Quote

I only saw Chile's games so he wasn't a constant annoyance for me If I remember correctly, on the first Chile-Brazil game of the qualifiers he didn't even play. Quote
