frenchkiki Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 @Prettyphile No it's unbrella (Ombrelle in French) To avoid the sun. It's a big one I know but I hate the sun. Quote
Prettyphile Posted July 8, 2017 Posted July 8, 2017 O.o that doesn't look like it's going to keep the rain off you. Maybe it's a North America thing but this is an umbrella keeps the water off you, while the parasol helps to keep the sun off you.. I have another 30 parasols and don't leave home without one. Quote It is designed to protect a person against rain or sunlight. The word "umbrella" typically refers to a device used for protection from rain. The word parasol usually refers to an item designed to protect from the sun. Often the difference is the material used for the canopy; some parasols are not waterproof. Parasol ..... Umbrella ..... Umbrella..... Parasol Quote

Parasol ..... Umbrella ..... Umbrella..... Parasol Oooooooh! It's because the word "unbrella" in English is not use properly (from the French/latin word ombrelle that is use to protect from the sun/ Ombre or Ombra means "shadow") And because of that I have kind of jumbled up the words & I have not used the right word because I had no idea "parasol" was the name in English So you are right my ombrelle is a parasol! A "parasol" in French is that (same word not the same thing) Unbrella in French is a Parapluie And a parasol in English is an ombrelle in French Quote
