LuNo Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 We Cannot Sit And Watch - CasillasReal Madrid number 1 Iker Casillas spoke about his reactions during the Madrid derby - captured on television - and insisted that the team's attitude was not right. He also admitted that the referee had helped them by ruling out Atleti's second goal.He had been captured on television making comments such as "Son of a gun. We’re dead, we’re dead, fu..." and also criticizing Capello: "Fabio, Fabio, you need to show some balls, you need to show some balls as they’re eating us alive."The goalkeeper defended his comments today, insisting evey person had his own way of expressing disappointment."Every person expresses emotions in his own way," he said. "After just fifteen minutes, they [Atleti] had already scored through Fernando [Torres] and had a goal annulled."Like it or not, we were not playing against a team such as Recreativo or Derpotivo. We are speaking of a dreby, in which it is important to play respectably."Some express themselves using anger, others with more tranquility; the things that players say on the pitch can be even barbaric at times."He also hit out at there being too many changes in the team, and particularly at many players being brought in during the winter."There have been too many changes in the team, and now in December we have had more players coming in who must first settle down," he said."We must have our minds in the game from the very first minute, and not spend the first ten minutes watching what our opponents do. If you do, they will create two chances, and score once, and then you will be left playing catch-up."We need to gain respect. We are Madrid."He also spoke about the referee annulling Atletico Madrid's second goal, and admitted that he had let them out of jail."First I thought that maybe he had blown for a penalty, but then I realized that it was for Perea being offside. Watching the replays, I have to say I have no idea what he has blown for.""It was an act that has benefitted us," he admitted honestly. "This one clearly did, though there have been times when they have hurt us. 2-0 would have been a big blow, and very difficult to recover from." Quote
