Rhys Meyers Prepares To Sink His Teeth Into New Role

post-20251-0-1446121036-42381_thumb.jpg

Jonathan Rhys Meyers will have a sexy co-star to sink his teeth into when he stars as Count Dracula in a highly-anticipated new TV series.

The Cork actor, 35, has signed on to play the infamous vampire in the latest adaptation of Dubliner Bram Stoker's classic novel, which starts shooting later this year.

Aussie actress Jessica De Gouw has just been cast as Victorian beauty 'Mina', The Tudors' actor's main love interest, in the provocative ten-part drama series.

The stunning brunette, who stars as a character called 'The Huntress' in US network CW's superhero series, 'Arrow', will have a steamy vampire love affair with the notorious Count.

According to sources, the new series will follow the notorious vampire arriving in London as an American businessman, who operates under the pretence of bringing modern science to Victorian society.

But the sinister blood-sucker's true motives are to exact his revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier.

However, temptress 'Mina' - who appears to be a reincarnation of Dracula's dead wife and with whom he falls hopelessly in love - is the one person who stands in his way and is capable of derailing his murderous plans.

The new series will be co-produced by Downton Abbey creators Carnival Films and is due to be screened on Sky Living early next year.

Jonathan Rhys-Myers promises 'Dracula' will be provocative, erotic

By Sonia Faria

Dracula star Jonathan Rhys Meyers is finally speaking out about his new role playing the infamous vampire and what fans can expect from the show.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers will be playing Dracula himself on the show coming to NBC for the Fall of 2013 season. The series will take place in the 19th century as Dracula returns to London with some unfinished business. What he didn’t plan on was meeting a woman who he believes to be the reincarnation of his dead wife.

Rhys Meyers reveals that the role isn’t the easiest, having to play someone who is both terrifying and alluring. Although, he can surely draw experience from his times playing King Henry VIII on The Tudors. Rhys Meyers explains to The Sun, “I have to make him diabolical and erotic at the same time and let it pass between these two things so that it’s a balance between, ‘Oh my God, I’m really repulsed by this but I can’t stop watching.’”

Back in January, NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt teased that Dracula would be based on the original Bram Stoker novel but that it would also have its own original elements. Rhys Meyers seems to echo this sentiment saying he even pulls some of his character’s inspiration from his own personal experiences. The actor explains, “I’ve taken my part of my interpretation of Dracula from the book, part of it from the history of Vlad Tepes [the Impaler] himself and partly from my own personal experiences, both the good and the bad. These will all come out.”

Many fans of the actor have been wondering how much sexy NBC would allow on the show. Rhys Meyers doesn’t dissapoint when he promises to bring eroticism to the series. “We are working very hard to make it as erotic, as entertaining and as provocative as we can possibly make it, so that people can enjoy it,” Said the actor.

Jonathan Rhs Meyers Casts No Reflection in Dracula

post-20251-0-1446121038-06463_thumb.jpg

NBC has ordered 10 episodes of a new drama in which Jonathan Rhys Meyers portrays a man with a drinking problem.

As in he must drink the blood of the living in order to prolong his undeath.

That's right. The sexy former Tudor will play Dracula, the original vampire, in a tale that is both old and new.

The show, created by Cole Haddon, will be a new take on the classic character but will take place in the year 1890. NBC President Robert Greenblatt says:

"In the world of
Twilight
and
True Blood
and all the contemporized stories, we thought we'd go back to the original."

Unfortunately the network restrictions won't be able to give us the sex and violence we've come to expect from True Blood, but at least we know we'll have some eye candy in the form of sexy Jonathan Rhys.

Finally! An NBC show that sucks on purpose! JK!
