SympathysSilhouette Posted December 10, 2021 Posted December 10, 2021 Alan Wake 2 announced! Very happy with that news. Also surprised. I never thought we'd be getting a sequel 11 years after the original game. Quote

What do you guys think of these types of videos There are a lot of sentimental videos like this on youtube, usually based on characters from movies/tv shows and sometimes games. For me sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. The audience is rather specific imho. Quote
Enrico_sw Posted December 11, 2021 Author Posted December 11, 2021 Interesting video (it can be translated via Youtube for those who don't speak French yet ) Quote
Stromboli1 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Just beat Spider Man remastered for the PS5, the game was amazing with a brilliant story. Onto the 3 DLCs now. Quote

He makes Geralt a calm, assertive and confident character. I agree, he has a really unique voice that communicates the older, more mature and badass version of Gerat. I think his voice acting kept on improving, and in W3 he was a lot better than in W2. To me he's better than David Hayter (voice actor who did Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series). Henry is at it again, the problem here is that he is the lead actor but not in charge of the writing.. : I just finished all the Witcher books, my mind was blown away especially by the final book of the main story. It has completely "red pilled" me about what is going on in the games. The games reference the book material very frequently. It also has lead me to believe that CD Red has really exhausted the books quite throughly in W1-W3 to the point where there are few stones unturned. It would be hard to write a W4 that is as high quality as W3, they literally have to make a lot more things up. Also Trish is actually a "secondary" side character, she just isn't in the book very much. The main side characters are just 3: Dandelion, Yennefer, Ciri. She is never in the running for Geralt's love interest either, she is just Yenn's BFF who loves him but can't have him. Shani is an even more minor secondary side character. She appears briefly-- only twice. Keira Metz is even more minor than Shani. She literally has one brief scene with Geralt and has sparse background comments afterwards. It really makes me appreciate what CD red did to expand these three characters, and also expand the world of the witcher in a high quality and book canon- consistent way. The Ciri story in the main story (5 books) is pretty phenominal and in the area of character development surpasses even Geralt's story. Yenn's story is great too but it is shorter than both. Dandelion is the second biggest character in the books as he is Geralt's best friend and companion. Regis is most memorable of the "secondary" side characters and a fan favorite. Also, there is a certain philosophy going on with the Witcher saga- the author has a wicked sense of humor and the books are constantly narrated /set up in a way that explores and mocks human behavior, which was accurately captured by the W3 quests. The author thinks that we human beings are a foolish, depraved species! @SympathysSilhouette Quote

SympathysSilhouette Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 Been messing around a bit with the Unity gaming engine. Mostly making very basic games following online guides. I have already figured out that the biggest issue is going to be blocking/animation/rigging. I have zero natural aptitude for that stuff. Quote
Cult Icon Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 + Also while looking at Reddit/fandom and youtube, I found that the Witcher 3 main story actually has considerable cut content. The final act of the game was rushed and there is evidence of quests and map portions that were canceled. 1. There was a big plague quest in Velen, complete with a partially rendered cave system to store the plague victims. 2. With Novigrad and the Witches of the Lodge- this was heavily cut short. They were set up to form a series of quests. These Witches are very important in the books and W2, however after the Radovid arc they disappear. 3. The Wild Hunt and the elf Sage Allavach (his and Eredin's origin/relation with Ciri is covered in the book Lady of the Lake (7)) has cut content as well. They were setting things up to expand the Elf Sage's roles, and even a betrayal questline. It is notable that Eredin says very little and the Wild Hunt's purpose is vague in the game. The Elf Sage in the books is not Ciri's mentor, he is actually more of an antagonist that warms up to her but without abandoning his obsession. His actions in the game actually make no sense, and they left out the explanation why he switched sides. The Lab trashing scene in W3 indicates that Allavach is still obsessed with Ciri's blood. This comic series covers the relationship between the Elves and Ciri, directly illustrating various chapters of book 7: https://ciri.the-comic.org/archive/ The "tall" Elves, in the books are portrayed (and cleverly mocked) by the author as being arrogant Elf Nazis, obsessed with race and obtaining Ciri's genes. Allavach is actually a chief nut-job and is as obsessed with Ciri as Eredin is. The difference however, is that Eredin is cruel in his methods while Allavach is "more civilized". 4. There was supposed to be more Yennefer quest content. Quote
Cult Icon Posted December 14, 2021 Posted December 14, 2021 + I read that a lot of the talent- including the lead designer and writers- responsible for W3 has already left the studio, either after they finished the game or during the Cyberpunk fall-out. +Also CDPR and netflix are in "partnership" now which doesn't bode well for the W4 if they end up trying to tie the poor quality, WOKE show with the games. I heard that the Gwent/Tabletop franchise has already been infected with the show's influence. It would really suck if W4 was corrupted by the show. I am just going to pretend that the Witcher franchise ended with Blood & Wine for the time being and have zero expectations.. Quote

Cult Icon Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 This is the non-canon ending made by Witcher author Sapkowski. It was written as a wedding gift to his friend, however if people read between the lines they can see evidence of how he would have written a wedding time ending. I think this influenced parts of the Witcher 3, in HofS and the ending of BW. https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Something_Ends,_Something_Begins_(unofficial_translation) @Enrico_sw @Matt! @Stromboli1 Are you guys going to watch Season 2 of the Witcher and Matrix Revolutions? Witcher is dropping Dec 17/18. The Matrix is dropping around Dec 22 Quote

If you liked Doom Eternal I think you will like Halo, which has some similar gameplay (lots of jumping, large enemy variety). If you end up like the Halo gameplay then there are a lot of Halo games to keep you entertained. Quote

It's probably going to be some remake of the first movie (with some woke shit in it). I may be wrong, so I'll wait for objective/trustworthy reviews (meaning not journalist reviews) and if they say it's good, maybe I'll consider watching it. And you? Quote
