I'll definitely watch S02 of the Witcher

But I don't think I'll watch the next Matrix movie. It's probably going to be some remake of the first movie (with some woke shit in it). I may be wrong, so I'll wait for objective/trustworthy reviews (meaning not journalist reviews) and if they say it's good, maybe I'll consider watching it.

And you?

I will watch (or listen) to Season 2.  I have seen some clips and noticed that like S1 it does not follow the books.  This show is not the Witcher.  Apparently there is a big quality/budget increase but from what I've seen the hardcore, book reading and game playing Witcher fans still hate it.

I will watch the new Matrix.  The Matrix Revolutions looks like the Force Awakens lol, lots of re-hash.  I know the spoilers (it was screened in the US) and the concept is good, but I don't know if the execution will cut it.  It might be suck like Matrix 2 and 3. (which had cool concepts too)

Read book-reader comments and apparently Season 2 of the Witcher has almost no relationship with the books/games except for "Ciri and Geralt travel and stay at Kaer Moren".  It is even less related to the source material than Season 1 (70% fanfiction, 30% loosely based adaptation) and more like a fanfiction effort that borrows components/characters from the Witcher, and then intentionally change them all for a totally different story/characters.

This makes Henry Cavilli's communication with fans pretty sneaky..

Really?? If it's true, that does mean that Cavill has been pretty disingenuous, because he said that Season 2 would be more faithful.

(PS: his name is Cavill, why do you want him to be an Italian?   Cavilli means "technicalities" in Italian)

Yep, and that's a red flag to me!

I keep on seeing Cavilli everytime I see his last name for some reason.  I even thought he was Italian lol..

Yeah, in reading around some of the superfans question if Cavill is really as big as a fan of the Witcher as he claims to be.  In Witchercom he admitted to reading only 3 out of the 8 books!  That wasn't so long ago. It seems however that he has finished the books already.

Cavill for the past 3 years or so has been promoting his "geek" credentials (likes gaming, witcher, dungeons and dragons, etc.) on social media and even in talk shows.  I think it's part of his brand and how he connects with fans, and builds relationships with them.  Gamers like the fact that Superman is a gamer too.  I suspect that he sees this as a good way to support his career as an action star.

Probably. I think he's really a geek though. Not a hardcore geek, but still a geek. Maybe he overstates things it a little, but I don't mind. If it serves him, good for him, but it also serves the fans. He genuinely defended fandom on several occasions. So, I definitely prefer guys like him to toxic actresses that insult and despise the fans (like Brie Larson).

All in all, Cavill seems to have a nice personality, he's agreeable and he always tries to defend fandom in front of journalists (who spend their days scorning fans - because they want to deconstruct our culture).

I have watched episode 1 and it was good

His geek status was well cemented with the social media posts of him building his own PC Master Race, lol.  It seems like he's more into Dungeons and Dragons & gaming than being a hardcore reader of fantasy/sci-fi.  He said he finished Witcher 3 twice.

TBH I think if a professional actor who does a lot of comic book/fantasy/sci-fi roles would really benefit from being a nerd in these areas, which should improve the quality and nuances in their acting.

I will start watching Season 2 tomorrow.  The Episode 1 is inspired obviously from one of the short stories in "The Last Wish".  It was one of the best written short stories and very informative in the world-building sense.   They should have put it in Season 1.    However from looking at the episode it appears that they massively changed the short story, which was largely a long and deep conversation with Geralt and the Monster man.

I gotta admit, this is a pretty good scene.

The classic shot of the SAS Long-range group in North Africa:

They did hit and run raids against airfields and supply areas, not tanks though ..

Yes, it's a very interesting part of WW2 (though I believe the protagonist in the game was part of the SBS).

I think that what's appealing to many youngsters in these stories is the brotherhood and the feeling that you're working for a higher purpose (a transcendence or some kind). It can be such a strong motivator, even when you're put in terrible situations with high death tolls.

They should add more of theses stories (and longer ones) in their games.

It's like Bishop in Battlefield 1 (WW1 / ANZAC fighting in the Dardanelles). These characters and storylines are really good (much better than the multiplayer versions of these games...)

^  People really need transcendence. Especially young men. The lack of transcendence is starvation for the soul. :/  Wandering with no higher purpose is very tough for many of the young'uns, much more painful than many body aches.

(I'm under the impression that few people realize that, and, among those who do, few use this intel for a real higher purpose...)

@Cult Icon The ending is really good too.

EA can do goo stuff (when they're not trying to rob their customers with f**** micro transactions). I wish they did more quality solo narrative arcs like that.

I can't say I'm surprised....................... :/

@Stromboli1 SJWs are whining about the studio developing Star Wars Eclipse.

You know what that mean? The studio is going to pander to the blue-haired mob and they'll probably give us a freaking woke story :yucky::yucky::yucky:

I can already see many hints in their communication. And we already knew that the "Hiiiiiigh republic" stories were plagued by the Stalinian employees of Kathleen Kennedy :/

I'd love to buy the WW1 and WW2 Battlefield games, but the solo campaigns last only a couple of hours.... and I don't like the multiplayer (I've already played them, there's too many troll players - not to mention cheaters - and the servers are lagging, because EA spends most of their resource on creating micro-transactions...)

I read some user reviews that said that the movie sucked

So did The Last Jedi.

My expectations are very low and at least don't have to go to the theater.

Should've stopped at the first movie anyway.

You didn't like Reloaded and Revolutions either?  How was your viewing experience?  Back in the day I was dragged to see both films and didn't enjoy either one.

I thought their concepts were interesting (Resurrection's concept is interesting too) but the execution and writing was a mess.

I think the Matrix works better when the humans are the underdogs, and Neo isn't that powerful.  The Agents become a lot more scary. Kind of like T-1000.   I also think that they focused too much on Hugo Weaving- to the point of obession.  The machines should be much more than a Super-Agent.
