Oh, retro-gaming, interesting!

You think FF2 and 3 are better than FF7?  Have you played FF7 remake?

Yeah they're better. I have played some of it, a different style FF game.

I think the OG Zelda is the GOAT.

I also really like the Metroid series, definitely in my Top 10 of game franchises.

Hey friends, what are your top 5 favorite games of all times? :bounce::Amelie_wft:

1. By a country mile, Witcher 3.

I have to think more about the others.  It's hard.  I have a lot of games that I appreciate as art (story + gameplay) but also games that I like for pure gameplay reasons.  I don't naturally think of them in terms of rankings.

Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm comes to mind in terms of gameplay, had the best time with the multiplayer.  I used to play Counterstrike: Source a lot.  Starcraft.  Age of Empires II/III.  I played a lot of the original Call of Duty back in the day (particularly multiplayer).  I also played the original Half Life (plus expansion) a lot as a kid.  Grand Theft Auto III and GTA Vice City.  Jet Set Radio.  Soul Calibur 2.

Story games: Bioshock-Bioshock Infinite, Witcher 1.  RDR2, Fallout 3, Ghost of Tsushima

Dark Souls III, Bloodborne, Sekiro.

Metal Gear Solid series  (1, 2, 3, 4)

Zelda Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64.  Resident Evil 2/3.  Deus Ex Human Revolution

4. Metal Gear Solid

5. Deus Ex Human Revolution

Some how these games stick in my  mind

The new Assassin's Creed is set in Feudal japan.  Seems like they are taking notes from Ghost of Tsushima .

Also, Cyperpunk: Edgerunners Season 1 is reputably to be a very good Anime.  That's nice to hear for CDPR.

Good question. All time is a long time, I have been playing video games for more than thirty years now.

I will limit myself to just PC games.

In no particular order:

Knights of the Old Republic

Mass Effect II

Dead Space

Age of Empires

Fallout: New Vegas

Honorable mentions: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Saints Row 4, Commando's: Behind Enemy Lines, Rainbow Six (original 1998 game), Tomb Raider II, GTA: Vice City, XCOM 2, Wasteland 3, Bioshock Infinite

People like Knights of the Old Republic a lot.  I never played it but I remember other kids talking about it.

I haven't heard the name "Commandos" in ages.  I tried Commandos II but found that it wasn't my type of game.  Tomb Raider II was good.

You like Bioshock Infinite more than Bioshock?

Yes. The scale of the world feels bigger and also I love time travel narratives. :)

Knights of the Old Republic was great. One of the first truly great single player RPGs I ever played.

The sequel had the potential to be even better but LucasArts forced Obsidian to finish the game within an absurdly short time-line. So lots of stuff felt unfinished. But had they been given the time to properly finish it, I think it could have eclipsed even KOTOR.

I like both Bioshock games (Bioshock 2 I found the weakest of the trilogy).  But somehow Bioshock 1 sticks more firmly in my mind due to the great lore density, the philosophy, and environments.  Bioshock Infinite has better graphics and is more expansive of course.

It always seems to me that a game like bioshock infinite will never be made again, at least not in the near future.  The ambient music was very immersive and special.

I am not sure if Fallout 3 should be in my  top 5 (instead of Deus Ex Human Revolution).

EDIT: I'll post the list here later today, but right now grinding Destiny 2 with your really good friend is the way to go.

1) GTA V

2) Halo: Infinite

3) Resident Evil 2 (OG)

...for now

Honourable mentions:

Destiny 2

Resident Evil: Village

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

Ori and the Blind Forest + the Will of the Wisps

Mario Kart 8

I forgot about the Batman Arkham Asylum games.  They were really good especially if you're a fan of batman.  They came out during the Nolan Batman film craze.

Also Company of heroes 1/2.  Max Payne 1/2.  2 was especially great.  Battlefield 1942.  Shenmue and Shenmue II.  Silent Hill games.  Goldeneye 64

Also the expansion for Bioshock Infinite (Burial at Sea 1/2) were great.

@Enrico_sw @Matt!  Have you guys thought of checking out Cyberpunk Edgerunners?

I watched a bit and it's really insane.

I think it's closer to what the game tried to be in terms of gameplay and craziness.  It could be closer to the actual creator's lore.

CDPR claims .  Basically, the success of the Netflix anime has given the game a boost recently.

I heard that CDPR wrote the anime. From what I've seen it's quite good.

the Great Kojima (Metal Gear Solid franchise, Death Stranding, also appears as a NPC in the game) liked it :

Ken Levine also seemed to have soured a bit on the industry after that experience. And I think you need an obsessed figurehead like him to even attempt to make something like Bioshock Infinite.

His next project appears to be in development hell:

Edgerunners was very good

The story has some resemblance to the story in the base game.

It's really intense lol.  Ultra-violent.  Also, the body modifications have an element of body horror to them.

I think that the game was probably going for action as intense as what's in the anime but their system didn't get that far.
