Ken Levine also seemed to have soured a bit on the industry after that experience. And I think you need an obsessed figurehead like him to even attempt to make something like Bioshock Infinite.

Yea, it sucks that someone who made 2 of the best games ever had troubles in making a 3rd one for so many years.  It would have been cool to see a Bioshock 4.  I think games directors should stick to great franchises if the previous entry was great.

Kojima is another one.  He used to be the no. 1 hyped up games director of the 2000s-2010s.  But he started burning out by the time of MGS5 and this project was troubled.  He was tired of making Metal Gear games for so long, despite their exceptional quality.  He let his feelings slip into the gaming press.  He made Death Stranding (to good but not great reception) and has kind of disappeared into the background.  The more years this goes on, the more his star will fade.

1) GTA V

2) Halo: Infinite

3) Resident Evil 2 (OG)

...for now

Honourable mentions:

Destiny 2

Resident Evil: Village

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

Ori and the Blind Forest + the Will of the Wisps

Mario Kart 8

Interesting! I think I need to play more Mario Kart games.

Ori seems good, but maybe too simplistic. How is the gameplay?

Good question. All time is a long time, I have been playing video games for more than thirty years now.

I will limit myself to just PC games.

In no particular order:

Knights of the Old Republic

Mass Effect II

Dead Space

Age of Empires

Fallout: New Vegas

Honorable mentions: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Saints Row 4, Commando's: Behind Enemy Lines, Rainbow Six (original 1998 game), Tomb Raider II, GTA: Vice City, XCOM 2, Wasteland 3, Bioshock Infinite

Cool!

Fallout New Vegas is really something! It has a great story and lore. The graphics are bit dated, it's a shame they didn't have the budget to make it better. I hope they do a sequel one day.

Bioshock Infinite is awesome! Its only drawback is that it was too short. Probably in my honorable mentions list too.

Tomb Raider 2 brings back good memories!

1. Witcher 3, by a country mile

2. Bioshock

3. Dark Souls III

4. Metal Gear Solid

5. Deus Ex Human Revolution

Some how these games stick in my  mind

Ah, the witcher 3 and DS3 ! Great games of course ;)

Deus Ex games are all great. Have you played Mankind divided? Great game (though too short). Adam Jensen is a great hero.

@Enrico_sw @Matt!  Have you guys thought of checking out Cyberpunk Edgerunners?

I watched a bit and it's really insane.

I think it's closer to what the game tried to be in terms of gameplay and craziness.  It could be closer to the actual creator's lore.

Nope, what is it about? :idk:

Ori is perfect in every way, literally perfect. 10/10 dentists recommends trying it.

Fallout New Vegas wasn't even that graphically impressive at the time of its release. I would say that wowing you primarily with the beauty of the graphics isn't the main appeal of Bethesda or Obsidian games. And they usually didn't have the kind of teams working on those games to deliver the kind of polish that you can expect from say something like the GTA franchise.

Obsidian is a great company (way better than Bethesda...). Do you remember that Obsidian lost the financial bonus that was in their contract with Bethesda, because they failed to meet the performance condition Bethesda imposed (a meta-critic score) by 1 point! (they had 84 and the trigger was 85)

Obsidian's creators were at Interplay (the original developer of the Fallout franchise). I think they get Fallout's spirit way more than Bethesda does.

Hmm, I might give it a go on Switch.

The music is good!

It seems like most people liked New Vegas more than Fallout 3.

Somehow I liked 3 more.  To me it seemed more grounded and realistic.  New Vegas was a lot more zany.

@Enrico_sw  I didn't play Mankind divided but I watched it on youtube.  Unfortunately it wasn't as good as the original and it was shorter.  It's too bad that the franchise ended there.

Bioshock Infinite is great but too short as you said.  This might have to do with its development issues.

Edgerunner's story is a variation of the story for the game but with more characters and different scenarios.  The main character is a rising punk that starts getting more and more augmented.  It's a really good anime, and has been very well received.

If Eidos had a "Cyberpunk like" budget to develop a Deus Ex game, it could be legendary!

I agree. One the things I loved about Human Revolution was its intelligent dialogue and the big influence of Blade Runner (one of my favorite films and probably my favorite sci-fi film of all time).   I liked the world of Deus Ex too and Jensen was a good protagonist.

In general the Fallout franchise as well as the Elder Scrolls franchise is both fun to play but also strangely appealing because of its slightly janky quality.

Elder Scrolls seems to be something that people really love.

I did not play it although it was popular.  However it seems really dated at this point.  what is special about it to you?

Well just the quality of the games itself. Then later on, the strong and active modding community around it, giving the games huge replayibility value.

Like Skyrim is nearly eleven years old (!!!) but still has a very active modding community, releasing creative new mods almost daily. A fully modded version barely even looks like the released game any more.

I should check it out.  Some commentary is that Skellige in W3 was influenced by Skyrim.

Is Skyrim considered the best?

Definitely the one that sold the best.

Yeah definitely saw some Skyrim influence in Skellige portions of Wild Hunt.
