Triss is the best female character in the game. Not only is she a hot ginger woman, but she's also a sweetheart that would make a great wife and mother.

Yennefer is too toxic.

That's kind of the point of the two characters. Triss is the safe choice. Yennefer is the woman you choose that you know will only ever bring you trouble (but might be worth it).

So this is kind of in the writing.

I find the whole Yenn vs Triss thing quite clever from the Developers.  The two women are well balanced.

Triss in W3 has a big character development compared to the books.  It's the mature Triss vs the immature Triss.  The one in W3 is an approachable mid-western American sweetheart so it has a lot of appeal.  Also there is a class issue going on.  She is like a social justice warrior and is more from the middle/lower class scheme of things while Yenn is a demanding upper class snob.  This can be inferred by the different way they dress.  Triss is very poor in Novigrad and is Cinderella girl.  She is also far less demanding than Yenn.  Also the voice actress they chose is very deliberate.  Yennefer sounds posh while Triss sounds like she could be from the American countryside and from an ordinary background.

Also a lot of players like hot redheads over hot brunettes too.

The majority of book readers (including Meg the youtuber) however prefer Yenn as knowing the character from the books significantly changes one's interpretation of her behavior in W3.  Yenn in the books sacrificed and risked a great deal for Geralt.  I think most book readers will recognize that she is passive-aggressive or openly aggressive towards Geralt in W3 due to his cheating and 'amnesia' in W1-W2.  She is also upset that he cheated on her with her best friend Triss and didn't come back to find her after so many years.  She is skeptical about the amnesia thing, she thinks it is a partial excuse.  The Amnesia is one of the first things that is briefly discussed in Vizima at the start of the game.  Do you guys remember this scene:?

The ending of Yenn in Blood and Wine is very subtle and yet very revealing, showing that she has completely left politics and has become a lot more happy and relaxed.  The book and game superfans finished Yenn's story really well in the fanmade Farewell to the White Wolf.  She is still a bit demanding (that is her personality at the end of the books) during the wedding but has softened a great deal.  The epilogue to 'Farewell' reveals that she has softened completely over the years.  I think it implies that her bitchyness is mainly due to stress.

However for many players Yenn's behavior turns them off.

Also Shani and Keira are great and very interesting.  They could have been legit romance options with expanded content.

Whaaat? It's a new option in the next gen version, right?

In my gameplay, I didn't fight her... I exchanged body fluids with her

No, it was an original option.  If you wanted be an A-hole you could legitimately fight and kill her.

It is also a pretty interesting from a character development point of view.  Keira is selfish, strongly motivated to survive and get out of the swamps & get her old lifestyle back.  If Geralt is mean towards her, doesn't talk sense into her, and blocks her from progressing, she tries to fight her way out.

This also implies that she views the sex as a hookup and not that emotional.

This the Next gen playthrough of "The Last Wish" (with Yenn) and the rat catching quest with Triss.  Looks sharper, more detailed, and slightly better than the original.

This channel has a lot of 1st person walks through the various W3 maps.

For me Toussaint is my favorite world in open-world gaming.  The rest in W3 are great as well but somehow I keep on coming back to this one.

It's in the writing that Yen is a toxic woman and Triss is a sweetheart. I didn't say otherwise. If some men love toxic women, I think it's great, it's less competition for the good ones IRL ;)

I should definitely spend more times reading the books. It seems that the characters are well developed.

In terms of American redhead sweethearts, I like this one (redhead sweethearts are one of my types of women :ninja:)

Elena Satine was rumored as a potential actress for the Netflix show Triss and I am still a bit sad she did not get the part.

I think Madison Headrick is basically Triss but with blonde hair.  Dye her hair red and she's Triss. Even talks like her.  She is from North Carolina.

I highly recommend the books as I have written here in the past.

Unlike Game of Thrones, the Witcher books are good from beginning to end and frankly feel longer than GOT because so much happens.  And there is more psychological depth in Sapkowski's writing than GRRM.  So the main characters (Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri) are better than any of the GOT characters.

The audiobooks for the Witcher should be free on youtube.  They keep on getting uploaded there.  I just downloaded them all and went through them in that way.  The books provide a satisfying ending as well.  But CDPR made the whole franchise even better by rebooting the story and continuing where Sapkowski left off.

After the books, the games are heavily influenced by nearly everything in the novels so people can enjoy them all over again and see things differently and pick up where the myriad book references (in the world building, hundreds of characters, dialogue etc) are coming from.  Blood and Wine is a perfect final adventure and most of the fanmade 'Farewell to the White' wolf is satisfying epilogue that connects both books and games.  For me it's the best franchise ever due to all these immense components coming together. (books, music, games).

Incredible work here, just like the game.  We don't need actual video game movies, the AI shows enough lol.

On youtube there is a channel called 'pineapple express' that is doing a 100%, 4K Death march Witcher 3 playthrough.  It is the best quality one on youtube and really showcases the graphics improvement.  For some reason, I cannot copy any of the links here.
