missparker7 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 There´s actually a RTS clipping collection on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...y0%3D%26fvi%3D1 and I do miss ONLY ONE PAGE of it (see photo). As for the picture at ebay I think this is from a U.S. Bazaar mag. (bigger sized page). And as I know she did 2 catalogs for Saks in 1985 I´m pretty sure it´s out of a 1985 Bazaar mag. Does anyone have an good info about this? I would like to save on money and buy only this single magazine than this clipping lot and getting so many doubles again for my collection. HELP, please! I got this b/w copy recently with the info it´s out of a NEW YORK TIMES, SUNDAY of July 21st, 1985. Does this "SUNDAY" have a special meaning?? And does anyone know where I can find these mags. except on ebay? Quote

Hi,missp...Yes,I've seen the clippings on eBay recently.I check every other day or so to see if there are any Renee new items listed.I've seen her Saks catalogs pics but, this one I've never seen.I know what you mean about buying a big lot of clippings.I have many of the ones listed usually listed. They tend to be the popular, well known pictures. It's so hard to find or see the rare ones.I wish that I had more info for you but, regretfully,no.Thanks for sharing. And does anyone know where I can find these mags. except on ebay? You know, missp, the only suggestion that I would have for finding mags besides eBay would be a bookshop.Several years back when I was on holiday in London I stumbled across this bookshop off of Piccadilly Circus that sold used books and old magazines.Any type of mag that you could think of.I spent literally, hours in there over my stay.Whenever I go back I always have to make a trip to that bookshop.I found early UK Cosmo's,early 80's European mags, with Renee on the cover.I found loads of fantastic mags with Yasmin on the covers,as well.I had to try and pick out the ones that I liked best, since there was no way I could buy them all.I couldn't believe the condition of the mags. They had obviously just been sitting in somebody's home.Wonderful condition.Upon my return,I had to pay a fee for my baggage being heavier because of the mags that I bought! Is there any bookshop around or near where you live? You're in Germany, yes?Do you live near a large city?I would just look around and see what you can find.I hope this info helps. I was hoping when I asked the seller for closer pics it would turn out the model is not Renée as oftenly sellers has pictures of models in Renée clippings offered being not her. But this Saks Fifth Avenue is for 100% her. I really thought I´ve got all her U.S. Bazaar, COSMOPOLITAN and VOGUE stuff now, but life is always good for a surprise. As Bazaar is not such a hard to find mag. I´ve got hope someone has it in his collection or another seller at ebay will be so kind to give me the info if the ad. is in one of the mags. he has listed. At least I´m happy this seller was so kind and has send me 2 small scans to find out if she´s Renée or not. By the way, this Maybelline beside the Saks I don´t think she´s Renée. What do you think about? Quote

It´s so nice of you. Unfortunately we don´t have such book shops in Germany. It wouldn´t work here as people are too mean to spend lots of money for used mags. I always realize this when I list stuff only on ebay.de for sale. It sells for much less than on ebay.com. If you find shops here selling old stuff, it´s antique and the books are REALLY old, but then you only find books and no mags. A pity this shop in U.K. you mentioned is not online! Seems I need to go there sooner or later... Quote

It´s a pity they used the absolute same pic. Sometimes they use pics from one shooting, but different pose/expression. I like these much better!! Quote

steve with an s Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 it´s out of a NEW YORK TIMES, SUNDAY of July 21st, 1985. Does this "SUNDAY" have a special meaning?? July 21 1985 is indeed a Sunday. The Sunday edition of The New York Times is the largest edition of the week, and includes some sections and "magazines" that do not come with the paper on any other day. (Or, at least it used to. I haven't taken The New York Times in fifteen years.) It's possible that the page you are asking about was inside a special, Sunday-only section of the Sunday paper. Otherwise, I can't think of any special meaning for "SUNDAY". ??? And does anyone know where I can find these mags. except on ebay? Do you mean The New York Times specifically, or "vintage" magazines in general? I like this site very much (you probably know it): http://www.paperpursuits.com/ . A magic phrase for the Google/Yahoo search engines seems to be "vintage fashion magazine". When I tried that just now, I turned up pages and pages of links. I thought this was a good one: A list of vintage magazine sources: http://www.trussel.com/books/magdeal.htm Also: http://www.advertisingarchives.co.uk/index.php and http://www.vidcat.com/store/manufacturers....anufacturerid=5 .
