Trey Edward Shults & The Weeknd's $20M Film Can't Find A Buyer

A report from THR describes the bitter rivalry between “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson and his star Zendaya. Quite honestly, I’m not sure if the third season will happen, even with a set January 2025 production start.

Zendaya and Levinson have had a strained partnership after Levinson turned all his attention to his failed HBO series “The Idol” and delayed submitting any scripts for “Euphoria” Season 3. Meanwhile, a source close to Levinson blames Zendaya instead for focusing on her movie career — “It was all about her.”

Caught up in the middle of this drama is actor-musician The Weeknd who partnered with Levinson on “The Idol.” Hidden deep inside THR’s report is how The Weeknd’s upcoming “Misery” remake, directed by trey Edward Shults (“Krisha”), cannot find a buyer. It’s been sitting in post-production for well over a year now with “no one biting.”

Last year, it was reported that Shults’ film would be written by himself and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd. Tesfaye would lead a cast that includes Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The film has since completed production.

Last year, I reported a rumor that Shults’ film could be a loose remake of Rob Reiner’s 1990 film, “Misery.” The Weeknd is said to play himself, a famous singer, and Ortega plays his deranged fan/stalker. Adding to the rumors, Ortega recently posted a shot of the house used during production, and it looked very similar to the one in “Misery.”

The still-untitled film is said to be inspired by an infamous, real-life incident that occurred to The Weeknd in 2015, when he lost his voice during a concert in Los Angeles — he managed to get through four songs before he had to cut the show short.

Plot details on Shults’ film will remain unofficial for now, obviously no release date has been announced, and, apparently, no studio is “biting” on the prospect of purchasing this film.

I don't trust remakes, and I certainly don't trust The Weeknd after The Idol. But I would really like to look at Jenna as deranged stalker. And who knows, maybe this movie is actually decent. Even the shittiest movies find their buyers😒

Levinson is lame as usual lol
