After working as a runway model in Paris, Mónica returned to Colombia and continued her career with INformamodels. Later, she traveled to Tokyo where she worked with renowned brands such as Burberry and Chanel, as well as Japanese designers. On Colombian runways, she has worked with figures such as Isabel Henao, Beatriz Camacho, Silvia Tcherassi, and Hernán Zajar, among others.
