A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is an American fantasy drama television series created by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is the third television series in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire franchise and is an adaptation of the Tales of Dunk and Egg series of novellas, beginning with The Hedge Knight. It stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall ("Dunk"), the titular hedge knight, and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire Aegon Targaryen ("Egg").

The series premiered on January 18, 2026, on HBO and will consist of six episodes. In November 2025, ahead of the first season premiere, the series was renewed for a second season, which is expected to be released in 2027.

I read the 3 novellas book (Tales of Dunk and Egg) and the comic. I would rate it about a 4 out of 5- solid but not ASOIAF 1-3 level. Tales of Dunk and Egg are better written than books 4-5 of ASOIAF. TBH I don't think they are good enough to be made into a show without the GRRM/ASOIAF connection.

These are much smaller and much less ambitious stories than HOTD or GOT which is why they were adapted. This show is much cheaper to make than HOTD.

GRRM provided 12 outlines for the other novellas. He probably didn't write them...

It's a lot more fun than House of the Dragon.

Also closer to GRRM's source material, apparently. I haven't personally read the Dunk & Egg short stories.

Alt shift X said that it was better than the source material, which is decent but forgettable.
