Harriet Wheeler
Is the lead singer of the 1980s/1990s alternative pop band, The Sundays.
Wheeler grew up in Sonning Common, near Reading, Berkshire, the daughter of an architect and a teacher. She was enrolled as an English literature student at Bristol University when she met David Gavurin. The two shared a common passion for music, and despite a scant background in musical training, released demos to various clubs in London (although Wheeler had sung in a band called Jim Jiminee before meeting Gavurin). After The Sundays' last album Static and Silence was released, Wheeler and Gavurin married.
