Here's mine, though I might need to change it come the end of December. I'm still trying to catch up with a few of 09's most highly rated albums, and haven't heard The XX, Animal Collective or Grizzly Bear yet. No John & Edward though, sorry!

Albums...

1. Julian Casablancas - "Phrazes For The Young"

2. The Horrors - "Primary Colours"

3. Silversun Pickups - "Swoon"

4. Metric - "Fantasies"

5. Arctic Monkeys - "Humbug"

6. The Big Pink - "A Brief History Of Love"

7. The Dead Weather - "Horehound"

8. Wild Beasts - "Two Dancers"

9. Noah & The Whale - "First Days Of Spring"

10. Band of Skulls - "Baby Darling Dollface Honey"

Tracks (in no particular order)...

The Horrors - "Sea Within A Sea"

The Big Pink - "Velvet"

Julian Casablancas - "Out Of The Blue"

Flight Of The Conchords - "Carol Brown"

The XX - "Crystalized"

Regina Spektor - "Human Of The Year"

PJ Harvey & John Parish - "Black Hearted Love"

Florence & The Machine - "Dog Days Are Over"

Miike Snow - "Animal"

Grizzly Bear - "While You Wait For The Others"

Arctic Monkeys - "Crying Lightning"

Bat For Lashes - "Glass"

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - "Zero"

Live Gigs...

1. Fleet Foxes (& Blitzen Trapper)

2. The Dead Weather (& Creature With The Atom Brain)

3. Noah & The Whale (& JJ Pistolet)

4. Brendan Benson (& Cory Chisel)

5. Antony & The Johnsons (& someone dressed up as a bird )

Still to see Arctic Monkeys, Eagles of Death Metal, Band of Skulls, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Spiritualized live this year.

And finally, this year's "I can't believe I only found out afterwards" award goes to Bat For Lashes & School Of Seven Bells

Best albums... Hmm, I haven't been keeping in touch with the modern scene, so I'll just name these two albums:

Octaherdon by the Mars Volta

22062413f8aa9.th.jpg

and

The Incident by Porcupine Tree

porcupinetreetheinciden.th.jpg

...oh, and also Crack the Skye by Mastodon, although I don't consider it their best album.

I looked through my 09 music again. It's the least amount of music from a year that i've added since 2005. Nothing really stood out.

I'm just checking out a few that are supposed to be good, Girls, The xx, Phoenix, Animal Collective. nothing really stands out yet. Even Arctic Monkeys was a letdown. Josh Homme kinda ruined them imo. And I love him more than anyone.

I guess the best of 2009 for me was The Beatles Remasters and The remaster of Paul's Boutique.

Albums...

5. Arctic Monkeys - "Humbug"

missed those albums

besides this 2009 was a great year in music if you consider the following albums:

01) Long Distance Calling – Avoid The Light *

02) Russian Circles – Geneva *

03) Kylesa – Static Tensions *

04) Caspian – Tertia *

05) pg.lost – In Never Out *

06) Fall Of Efrafra – Inlé *

07) Callisto – Providence *

08) Ghost Brigade – Isolation Songs *

09) Insomnium – Across The Dark *

10) Heaven & Hell – The Devil You Know

Exxasens – Beyond The Universe *

Muse – The Resistance (I think about degrading this one for it's the worst Muse release since Hullabaloo)

Isis – Wavering Radiant *

Celeste – Misanthrope(s) *

Neaera – Omnicide

Swallow The Sun – New Moon *

Solstafír – Köld *

Katatonia – Night Is The New Day

Clutch – Strange Cousins From The West *

Heirs – Alchera *

of course this list is incomplete even though it was meant to be just a top 10.

* indicates, that this is a band I have never heard before 2009
