Anjelah Nicole Johnson (born May 14, 1982) is an American actress, comedian, & former NFL cheerleader. Johnson is most notable for her membership in the recurring cast of comedians on sketch comedy series MADtv during its 13th Season. Her characters include a rude flight attendant named Bon Qui Qui and a Vietnamese nail salon employee
Johnson was born and raised in San Jose, California in a devout Christian family.[1] She is of Mexican-American and Native American descent.[2] After three years of college Johnson moved to Los Angeles to pursue an entertainment career. She subsequently became a cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders. As a member of the Oakland Raiderettes she was named Rookie of the year and performed in Super Bowl XXXVII
Johnson joined the cast of MADtv in 2007, as a featured performer, for the thirteenth season. She made her debut on the show in November 2007, going on to portray Bon Qui Qui, a fast food employee who treats customers rudely. The clip made its way to YouTube where it gained a cult-like following, reaching more than 42 million views. She also reprised her bit about Tammy the nail salon lady, made popular in her stand-up prior to joining the show. In 2008, Johnson was nominated for an ALMA award for Outstanding Female Performance in a Comedy Television Series for her work on MADtv.
Aside from her stand-up appearances, Johnson appeared in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel in 2009 and Our Family Wedding in 2010. In 2009 Johnson appeared in her own Comedy Central special, "Anjelah Johnson: That's How We Do It" which has been produced into DVD.
