Porn, porn everywhere: helping us or hurting us?

Helloooo Bellazonians!

This is my first post on this lovely forum ( read this site a bunch of times but never posted) and I hope this isn't a Q that's been asked before or is inappropriate! If so, big sorry to you all.

I am a sociology student so Q's like this one fascinate me. Porn is pretty "mainstream" now because of the meteoric rise in internet pornography. Even if you don't watch it yourself ( but I bet most people have watched it ), you can hardly go any place on the web without being confronted by an ad banner! It has been said that since the 2000s, porn has started to define how people view themselves sexually because of growing internet use, and this seems to be true when you consider the impact its having on whats considered "normal" in sex, e.g shaving, expectations about male size, "facials", an*l sex, etc.

SO, the question is... is this good or bad? Is the prevalence of porn in the average persons life in the 2010s making sex more awkward/rigid or more exciting and/or liberating? It is making sex intimidating or just more dirty fun?

I see nothing wrong with porn!

I think porn has negative impact on teenagers especially if they do not have parents who accept to have free talk about sensuality.

And I don't like the stereotyped actresses and actors.

Other than that I don't mind porn at all.

I believe the easy access the internet gives, has allowed poeple the freedom to explore thier fantasies. Without the taboos of the not so distant past. Just 15-20 years ago alot of people would've been embarassed to ask for or try something different. For fear of being considered perverted. Now you can sit in front of the computor with a lover & check out new things to try. Now days nothing is taboo between consenting adults. I think we have porn & internet accessability to thank. So.....YAY PORN!!!!!!!

Just in case anyone is interested: "Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality" by Gail Dines. I haven't read it yet but I heard it is a good book.

Watching porn can be funny but sometimes it is unrealistic. It is true now it is better than other era, but not all factible. People should analize gifs, videos, etc

Everything comes down to the person's upbringing. If you have a descent one you are fine and porn can be fun with your partner. Otherwise, you find yourself wonder why women pay for rent with actual money, why the taxi driver is so ugly, why you get sued in job interviews etc 😆
