Assistant to Jean-Marie Leydier in the Lorin-Leydier agency.
Starts as a photographer in advertising, then turns towards fashion. Collaborates in magazines like Marie-Claire, international editions of Elle, Lei, French Vogue, Italian Vogue, German Vogue, American Vogue, Mademoiselle, Self, GQ, Interview, Glamour amoung others.....
Creates the first issue of Femme, the catalogues of Marithé et François Girbaud and campaigns for Issey Miyake.
In 1985, Issey Miyake asks Tapie to create a book for his 15 years of work with MDS. Gilles Tapie travels to Tokyo for 2 months.
In 1988 he starts his personal work on dance, nudes and still life.
Gradually he leaves fashion and consecrates his time on his personal work.
His creates the photographs for “INVITATION” by Sylvie Guillem who he has followed for 17 years.
Presently, he is working on photographic projects based on the body.
