Often and unfairly forgotten, the bass is a fundamental part of any band and it plays one of the most important roles: it defines the harmony while also giving the low end and it also helps setting the rhythmic feel.

 

So lets post those great bass players that go beyond the basics of what the bass should do. Those who deliver creative lines that have their own life within the song.

 

I'll start with sir Paul McCartney, and the isolated bass track of the Abbey Road Medley

Nathan Watts

 

 

 

Listening to this song just now I noticed how amazing the bass line was so I looked up who played it.

Turns out Nathan Watts had been playing bass for just 3 YEARS when he recorded this...  

talk about feeling talentless after finding that out
