Best actresses?

So, we all keep quarreling about who's the most beautiful, the sexiest etc.

But what about the best actresses? You know, women who actually know how to act. Please don't count sex appeal as a factor here.

Who do you propose?

I pick Scarlett Johansson. No, not because of her sexy body... I seriously think she's one of the best actresses today. Her restrained way of acting strikes me as something quite rare.

Another great actress is Natalie Portman. I just loved her in The Specialist. Just like Scarlett, she could act well at such a young age. She's going to get far if she keeps her current course.

I can't think of any older actresses... maybe Meryl Streep.

aand Kate Winslet and kate Beckinsale (especially in Underworld) and I loved Meryl Streep in Hours and Julien Moore, OH and Renee Zelweger!!! I mean, she can play "dumb" and easy-going Bridget and then a really hard woman like the one in Cold Mountain, and Chicago?? I was nearly shouting with joy and clapping my hands!!! Awesome

I think it was because she was the main character....and she had the hardest role (as I see it) but for me they were great all three - Julianne, Nicole, Meryl - that film is extraordinary

I'm too lazy to think and decide 1 , but i know 1 for sure and that is Rachel MacAdams , not only is she very carming but she really is a great actress and she has that warm presence & when she smiles it's like a sunshine.

Very talanted i loved her in Red Eye and the Notebook and then there were the teen movies like Mean girls and Hot Chick and she can really transform into her character she's great.
