Bullitt.

If we are talking more recent movies, then I'd go with the Bourne Identity. But Bullit has been imitated so many times that it should be considered the quintessential movie car chase.

Lethal Weapon 3 and National Treasure.

Ben-Hur has a good chase scene, too. Kinda old school.

Are you talking about the chariot race at the Circus?

Yeah, my attempt at a cute response.

A more sincere candidate would be Badlands.

Ronin and The Transporter were both great.

The older films have something about them but there are certain things you just couldn't do then.

They get kudos from Nostalgia, I only like car chase for asthetics.

Well it depends on what constitutes 'best'. I mean The Transporter is a wonderful as a silly thrill seeking film, and it does contain some great stunts and car related mayhem. But Badlands is Terrence Malick. And yeah the car chase is a bit rusty looking by modern day comparison, but it has charm. And charm goes along way in terms of being remembered.

Christine had a few chases, one Christine chasing a Camaro it wasn't that long but it had one of the best car slides I have seen then slamming into the side of the Camaro twice, the other Christine chasing a dork on foot down an ally into a forklift bay, only alittle bit more but not much.

I know of someone the has a Bluesmobile replica and General replica also two people that have the only two Christines left from filming.
