Renée Toft Simonsen (born 12 May 1965) is a former supermodel from Denmark, who currently works as a psychologist and writer. Renée was one of the most successful and beautiful models in the world during the 1980s.

Renée's full name is Renée Toft Simonsen. In 1981, while Renée accompanied a friend to Ford's 'Face of the 80's' competition, Eileen Ford asked Renée to come back the following year. Her career began when she won the Danish “Ekstra Bladet” model competition and then the New York City 'Face of the 80's' competition the following year (now Supermodel of the World). After she became Supermodel of the World in 1982 has she worked for big name such Acceptcard, American Legends, Avon, Basile, Biotherm, Buffalo, Burberry, Butterick, Coppertone, Coveri, Cover Girl, Dior, Escada, Excelsior Italy, Feraud, Gente Viaggi, Gottex, Guy Laroche, House of Bianchi, In Wear, J H Collectibles, KKDK, Lancel, Lancetti, L'Oreal, Louis Feraud, MacDouglas, Malgari, New Man, Oscar De La Renta, Perma, Reflections, Renato Balestra, Revlon, Ricard, Simplicity Today, Suprafil, Teledanmark, Valentino, Versace, Vichy. She has be seen in numerous covers around the world to magazines like Self, Elle, Vogue, Photo, Madame Figaro, Cosmopolitan, Harper's Bazaar, Petra, Moda, Anna, Mademoiselle, Redbook, & Brides.

Renée had her film debut in the Italian film 'Sotto il Vestito Niente' (1986) and then in 'Via Montenapoleon' (1987). In 1985 she dated bassplayer John Taylor of the British band Duran Duran to whom she was engaged.

In 1988, disillusioned and unfullfilled by the decadence and luxury she was promoting through her modeling, she decided to take a break from fashion and find herself. After breaking up with Taylor, she lived for 3 months in a kibbutz in Israel with her sister Heidi. Despite an offer to audition for the role of a Bond Girl in one the the upcoming James Bond films, the following year Renee ended her modeling career and returned to Denmark to study journalism. After failing the qualifying examination she began to study psychology instead.

From 1991 on she again worked as model for Vichy cosmetics. In 1993 Simonsen became the face of Biotherm cosmetics.

In 1997 she worked as a fashion editor for the Danish magazine Asschenfeldts Magasin, which was however stopped after a few issues. In summer she started a relationship with Danish rock singer Thomas Helmig, whom she married in August 2000.

In 2003 Simonsen signed a contract to the French cosmetic company Clarins and began appearing in magazine advertisements for mature skincare products. In October 2003 she published her first children's book, entitled Karlas Kabale. In 2006 her children's book Anthony Greenwood was nominated for the Danish book-prize "Orla" and she was awarded with "The Most Dynamic Women" award by cosmetic company Clarins for her social engagement at Plan Denmark.

This cover is new for me. I have never seen it before until I found it on ebay a few minutes ago. Miss and Jal 718 might like it.

I agree but I am trying to cheer myself up and restarting my topics. These pictures are for you dear friend. May be they are new for you, too. They are from internot so not very high quality, but better than nothing.

Oh yes, that would be a nice cover. Anyway, here are some pics from the SI Pictures site (better than SI's official site IMO).

I'm new here. I had no idea there was a crash. I found it kind of peculiar that a lot of threads said the last post that was made there was sometime in September, though.
