Siemgi Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Since we are on the topic of discussing which new face we want to see on the VS and since my campaign to get Carly Rae Jepsen last was so successful (I mean we got Bieber, who's like the male Carly, except with more douche and less phones), here's who I am betting my house (which I don't own by the way, so yeah...) will be performing at this year's fashion show: Everyone's favourite third generation Disney Girl who didn't star in either Spring Breakers or Hannah Montana and whose name isn't Ashley Tisdale... You guessed it (or maybe you didn't, because you suck) : Demi Lovato! Seen here vacationing in either St Barths or Turks and Caicos, maybe, and gifted with that one special X factor, this Bombshell ™ has been rising like a Skyscraper (get it? It's funny, right?) amongst the pop tarts of the decade, looks so bodacious she could give you a Heart Attack even though all she wants is to Give Your Heart a Break. She has also a whopping one Billboard Mainstream Top 40 number one single (which, before you ask, is one more than the Biebs) and five octaves (or so I've heard). And for the non-PINK stuff, Katy Perry with her new single from her third album, y/y? Also, Cara Delevingngggne for the 2013 Fantasy Supermodel Eyebra . Quote
Cult Icon Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 My turn? We're playing quid pro quo now? Now it´s your turn Quote
Cult Icon Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 ................I grew up on a dairy and beef farm. in South Africa and I was fifteen when I was scouted in a flea market.. It's kind of been blessed, since then it happened all so fast. I was always interested in fashion and beauty. Two years later, I arrived in New York. I was in awe because it was like another planet. At school I got teased because I was so thin and awkward-looking. But the girls on TV looked similar to me. I would say to my mum, 'The girls at school are teasing me, but I look like those girls on TV. I was a ballet dancer growing up and that's what I was convinced I would be. I'd love to be a pop star - at heart. I have always been very comfortable in little clothing; its part of my job. I try to train as much as I can, as much as my schedule allows it. I'm crazy about jewelry; swimwear and jewelry. I'm usually bikini ready all year round. I feel if I'm healthy and happy, I look good. With a good mixture of fitness and healthy food I always feel great! It's been amazing how this crazy career has been created. I feel that it's been given to me. I wouldn't be anywhere without Victoria's Secret. Victoria's Secret is like a big family. I'd like to one day be featured on a list of inspirational people who have made a difference in the world, whether it be helping underprivileged people or putting an end to the poaching of wildlife in Africa. Women are complicated. We all know that. Whenever I feel down, I can check on Twitter, Youtube, and Bellazon and feel better about myself, because it's only people there who like me for what I am deep down inside............. Quote

Cult Icon Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 No one knows anything about the fashion industry in Brazil. They don't care what you do. They just want the beach and the sun and the fun. I feel the freest and the happiest there. Quote

Cult Icon Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 My favorite 'spurious' posts are the ones that nobody commented on at all. They are funny to me for reasons that are immediately obvious to me but no one else. All the nuances are caught by me, but it is unlikely that other people will see what I see. I think it's best to have fun while making it, and make it original/or personal. Then deciding whether or not to ease it into the 'publics' (like low brow TV or stand-up comedians always do) will be straightforward. Yours was original & an extension of you, and that fact must be applauded Good one I´ll try to figure out something simpler than my last post Quote

Jennka Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Controversy surrounding Victoria´s Secret "Bright Young Things" collection World is crazy and we all know it, but Victoria´s Secret seems to love to spur the controversy all the time. Not only they allowed their skinny model that general public will never like to wear a native American dress for their horrenderous, women-abusive fashion show, now they even dare to promote lingerie for teenage babies! I am well aware that the mothers from all over the world must find themselves in a real state of shock - can you imagine your little 15 year old dolls wearing THIS outrageous and provocative lingerie? CAN YOU? Way too shocking, way too scandalous. Oh, c´mon Victoria´s Secret, teen girls DO NOT wear lingerie, because they are still TOO YOUNG for it, learn it already! The whole scandal has caused many passionate and angry reactions all over social sites. These are just few of them: "There were times I used to like really liiiike Victoria´s Secret, but my mummy told me it´s a bad, bad thing to do so I stopped instantly and now I wear no underwear at all. In fact, I lost one of like my best best best girlfriend in the whole world because she still enjoys wearing that evil lingerie, and I blame Victoria´s Secret for that. " Samantha, 14 "I´m not a mum, in fact I´m 17 years old, but I´d never wear such abusive lingerie for a second! I don´t want to be sexualized! I´m smart, and dismiss anything that contains "sex" as a part of the word! Sex is bad, anyway!" Penny, 17 "How dare you even think about teenage girls wearing lingerie. They are so pure!" Karen, 57, mother of 5 We could go on and on, but I find these examples sufficient enough for you all to make up your own opinion. In fact, the whole controversy caused a group of scientists to make a serious scientific research on the wrong influence of Victoria´s Secret lingerie on the life of teenage girls. We can only imagine the horrific results! This is the right time to stand up for our youth and send Victoria´s secret company right to where it belongs - to HELL! And I will be the first to show them the way! written by Anonymous Quote
tuesdaybrunch Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Well it's interesting what parents are saying...but I think they should see this as a win...VS is finally using models with 14 year old bodies to model 14 year old clothing apparel! Quote

A. You don't get it. B. You are a male creep. C. You a female creep. D. You are 14 year old that thinks wearing VS underwear will make you look "sexy". No matter what you bubble in, you still fail. UNLESS You posted this here because it's the spurious thread, and you are taking the joke and running with it. To this I say: Alright, good enough. Quote
Cult Icon Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Haha, I like this Jennka. VS is playing up their enfant terrible schick, and people draw all sorts of conspiracy theories. But for many, it's less about the social issue and more about satiating our need to periodically affirm our self-righteousness! Controversy surrounding Victoria´s Secret "Bright Young Things" collection Glad you like it! I see it as one extreme against other, and everytime I see such "controversial" issue I just roll my eyes and think "people and their right to have opinion and instant need to shout it in others face". Lol. Quote

Lol. With these socially charged issues, it's more like a pavolvian dog response. Classical conditioning. They realize that they have a duty to be offended! And then the exaggerations and the fictions soon follow.. The sister thread to this one would be better if it was more charged. More debate/sharing of views and less announcing/self-affirmation. Less dry and stale. Quote
