Happy New Year
Did anybody get drunk, or is anybody still drunk? ![]()

I asked you a while back to stay out of my thread. I'd like you to respect my wishes. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.

I'm sorry to hear you hold greivances for so long, I was trying to make amends. Alas, if thats what you want, I will respect it.

A whiles back, I quated a short passage from a small speech about conflict and argument. It can be found in "Thinking Socratically" one of two textbooks used for my Hum 115 class "Critical Thinking". This is the Speech in its entirity.
KEYNOTE SPEECH MAY 18
at Simpson College's 1996 Commencement
by Jane Smiley
In our country, we see an unprecedented level of actual violence, and also an unprecedented level of verbal violence. Civil discourse seems to have ended in some places and so many people. What is left is vows and assertions and caches of weapons and vituperation against anyone seems different or frightening.
But you know what? Somehow I am no longer afraid of this lack of peace . . .
Many of the things that Americans argue about are worth arguing about: for example, the environment. Following the second World War, The American love affair with technology gave us many so-called innovations that turned out to be harmful. Let us take as our example "DDT."
Discussion of such a large matter as DDT and the interests and investments it represented, set off against the dangers it posed, could not fail to be significant and even acrimonious. The same goes for all sorts of enviroemntal issues: from overpopulation to clear-cutting, from petroleum use to habitat destruction.
If we were not fighting over these things, we would be fools. What may emerge from our fighting, if we stick with it, is a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful world to live in. How about education, social services, health care? Race, ethnicity, religion?
...
Conflict is fiferent that violence. I used to think that conflict leads to violence as pink shades into red. It was, "One was just more of the other". Now I think that violence occurs as an attempt to stop conflict, a stab at silencing the cacophony of differing opinions and divergent values.
There can come a point in an argument where on party or another just can't take it anymore. He or she leaves the room or strikes a blow. It takes courage in the face of conflict to neither leave the room or strike a blow but to keep arguing and to keep accepting the right of the other person to argue, too.
It takes courage to realize that something, some compromise, will be hammered out, and that an interval of peace can ensue. It takes courage to accept part of, rather than all of, what you want. In other words, it takes courage to live in a diverse society where people speak up rather than shut up."
What does any of this have to do with the Internet and Bellazon in particular? To me, it has everything to do with it. Conflict and a differing of opinions happen all the time. Arguing? Every day. To me, in every aspect of life, it takes courage to stand up and argue about differences until they are settled. To me, words like shut up and get out of my thread are as cowardly on the Internet as leaving the room or striking the blow in the "real world".
So if you ever decided to become that stronger person I know you are,

the exact tranlation of what you said would be "si tu ne m'aimes pas, saches que je t'aime toujours"... ![]()
I'm just saying

Thanks Taben . . . (Y)

I find it ironic and almost insulting that you first say "I made it pretty clear I wanted some space" followed by you saying you said it as a flat statement "hinting". Never was any of my intentions to blast you for anything, but as a genuine concern, from freind to freind. It is natural for you to be angry with me in such terms, as you would be in real life say if you were a drug addict, and I was a concerned freind confronting you and pressing the issue, "continuing on", as you say. As for "lack luster", it is one of several things I wish I could take back, it was not right for me to say.
As for the request to leave your thread: never have I read or realized you did not want me on your thread, until today. Alas, I apologize deeply for my ignorance and disrespect. I hope we can continue to talk about this, I am heartened by your willingness to talk to me again, even if it isn't on the more freindly terms we were once on. You don't realize how painful it was for me to be such freinds with you one week, and to be in such bitter silence the next.
In any case,

hola bitch. haha happy valentines day...

Wow, a blast from the past, good to see you Eeez. Just a random nickname. Happy Valentines to you as well.
