I know you were messing around, and that response was not to you it was to the other Matt (hence I only quoted him)

This film is another dull, suburban "commentary" that gets even more irritable the longer it smugly trundles along. Sweeping and utterly contrived character contradictions that are really predictable and a third act that relies on some stupid innuendo shots; hardly surprising that the guy who wrote it went on to create Desperate Housewives. :yuckky:

Ummmm. You need to do your research, buddy. Alan Ball -- that guy who wrote it -- went on to create the hit HBO series Six Feet Under. He had nothing to do with Desparate Housewives.

You know, I had a feeling that was probably wrong but I didn't check. Pardon the lazy error. Regardless, American Beauty undoubtedly served to influence awful dreck like Desperate Housewives.

You know, this movie is good because here we see a man in love. We see how love changes him, and we see in what way. He is unhappy with his wife and this young girl made his life more happy... But the end of this movie is tragic. :-(((

i see my earlier posts were erased after the BZ crash...

but morgan.. the thing i think that really makes him

happy is letting go~~ just letting go

of all the bullshit in his life

his domineering wife

his morose,bitchy kid.

and living for himself

getting in touch with his youth

remembering what it felt like to feel alive

remembering his wife when she was human, remembering his sweet baby girl

who had changed so much.

which makes it all the more poignant when he gets his fucking brains blown out

 lolol.

^ That's all okay as long as you don't tell me if Dorothy makes it home at the end of "The Wizard of Oz"!

the movie sez you'll always get the chance to change... i like that a lot. it was my bible when i was about 14-15.. the music is great, the quiet little subliminal commentaries were great.... i gotta watch it again, i think!
