NULL VOTE- I mean what about Twiggy, Lee Miller, Betty Grable, 'Betty' Bacall, Betty Page, Jerry Hall, Cheryl Tieggs, Isabella Rosselini for example, the voting sample is slightly skewed towards the last two and a half decades and not exactly representative of those faces of yesteryear, who hold their own amongst the modern Supermodels.

Gisele is the closest thing to a "supermodel" in my generation. I'm not sure what TooBuku's criteria for "best" is (fame? looks? body of work? your favorite?...), so I didn't vote . I've learned a lot about 80s and 90s fashion recently. If impact is the criteria, I’m not really sure how anyone of today can compete with those who were the most popular in the height of “supermodel-mania” when models actually had a voice, power and were considered real celebrities and didn’t take a backseat to actresses and singers on fashion magazine covers and cosmetics commercials . Not to mention, that people who weren’t even into models knew who they were If I were around in the 80s and weren't into models, I still wouldn't be albe to help but know who Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford were.
